Here is what I believe the Bible states about the anti-christ: probably not a popular view but one that is biblical and well supported by scripture.
The Anti-christ is just one of 32 titles in the Bible of a real person who becomes an evil world leader in the last days. In the Bible, he has 32 titles, and there are several passages that describe this world leader such as he is an great orator, and economic genius, and so on. In the Bible, some names are the Man of Sin, Son of Perdition, the Evil Man, the Idol Shepard, the Lawless One, the coming world leader, the “prince that shall come”, and many others which I am sure you can google to get an exhaustive list as well as where they are referenced in the Bible. Jesus Himself spoke of him as one would “come in his own name” and who would be “received” by Israel in John 5:43.
Many think he is alive today, have identified people who fit his description, but this is just hearsay and silly guesses.
In Dan 9”25-27, the anti-christ (“prince that shall come” is a descendant of the people who destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD (Titus Vespasian) and he will “enforce’ a treaty between Israel and some federation of countries (“the many”). This is commonly known as the start of seven year period or Daniel’s 70th week. After 3-1/2 years the anti-christ will commit the “Abomination of Desolation” in the holy of holies of the Jewish people that Jesus Himself identifies in Math 24 and Jesus tells the Jewish people that when they see this event happen to flee and flee now, and a remnant flee Jerusalem into the “wilderness” (documented in several old testament passages). The Abomination of Desolation is an event that occurred once before in the Jewish temple about 150 years before Jesus showed up and triggers the Great Tribulation period that lasts exactly 3-1/2, years, 1260 days, 42 months, or a time, times, and one-half time. (stated in Dan 12:7, Rev 12:14, Dan 7:35). The Great Tribulation is also defined in Jeremiah 30:3-7 as “time of Jacob’s trouble” and note that Jacob = Israel (Gen 32:28). Jesus, Himself, identifies the Great Tribulation Matt 24:15-22. In 2 Th 2:4 the antichrist sets himself up as God in the Jewish “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
The anti-Christ, “son of perdition” is revealed after the Church is taken out (2 Th 2:1). In Th 2:3-4, “ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” Thessalonians goes on to tell us that when church goes, the Holy Spirit who indwells the church and restrains evil will be taken out of the way. 2 Th 2:7 “ goes too and all evil will be released on earth. 2 Th 2:6 – 2:8, “ And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:”
At this point, the man of sin will have Satan powers, 2 Th 2:9, “ Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders… “ and then God will send those on earth a lie that most will believe, 2 Th 2:11, “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
The tribulation is judgment on Israel and at the end the seven things the angel Gabriel told Daniel will be complete. Revelation 6 – 19 is the details of the “Great Tribulation” to be inflicted on those not removed from God’s judgment. In the end, the Jewish remnant of Israel must repent and ask Jesus to return and then He will. Math 23:39 among other scriptures: “ For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Jesus returns and wipes out the enemy as his robe is dipped in blood completing the Isaiah 61 if you remember where Jesus read the scroll of Isaiah in Luke 4:17 and Jesus just happen leave out ‘the day of vengeance of the Lord”. That day has now come.
