TORONTO - While Society of St. Pius X superior general Bishop Bernard Fellay visited Canada in June on his way to illicitly ordain two seminarians in Winona, Minn., the anti-Semitic theology of the traditionalist society continued to haunt the breakaway sect.

Since the Talmud refers to Jesus as a “a seducer and heretic”, I wonder how long it will be before calling Christ a Jew will earn you the moniker of anti-semite?

This is simply an ignorant or purposely malicious conclusion endlessly repeated over and over.

When I hear this charge, I ask the maker to define anti-semitism. You can’t be an anti-semite if you want to convert Jews to Catholicism and thereby save them. An anti-semite would want Jews to be damned, I would think.

All my religious acquaintances, the Catholic books and newspapers I read, and the speakers I hear at conferences, have all been labeled as antisemitic by the Southern Poverty Law Center. These are the same sorts of people who label the Gospels as anti-semitic, especially the Gospel of St. John.

What more does the SSPX officially believe than that the old covenant is no longer salvific and that the Jews, just like everybody else, need to come to faith in Christ for salvation? This is not anti-semitism, but Christian truth.
