Conversely, one can’t say with certainty that they will never be tempted by a given sin.

Besides, the issue at hand is also about scandal, not just sin.

I don’t use catholic theology here to exaplin Anubis as you say it doesn’t fit. I use ancient egyptian religion theology (it can be found). I believe our faith says thou shall put no other gods before me. Not after.
 
Jumping in late here–I have a small statue of Bastet, the cat goddess on display simply because I’m crazy about cats. She sits with several other cat depiction of ceramic and stone. Trust me, I worship none of them nor pray to any of them. 😉

“I am the Lord your God.” We are a monotheistic faith. Egyptian gods are not ours. That is totally heretical, and unquestionably so. Please read the Catechism for more information.
 
Thats like me saying “Oh im going to hell because I love playing god of war”
Or “Im going to hell because I watched wrath of the titans.”
Just know they are stories of false god’s and do not worship them and you will be fine.

The Egyptians were monotheistic also. Call anubis a “name of god”. Now Abraham himself the chaldee was not monotheistic. The sons of Apep are the evil ones here. Anubis is far from evil. Truth or ma’at in Egyptian was personafied as a female dieity. These truths have been concealed in deities.
The whole Anubis question to seems like superstition. Michael protector from evil, his role is much like Anubis. I would suggest the OP check out this page.

Monotheism means ONE god not many! Anubis, Horus, Isis etc are many gods or polytheism. There is no place for other “cosmologies” for a practicing Catholic. Either you believe in the faith or not, there is no middle ground here. You CAN’T worship other dieties period!

They didn’t have a singular god where are you getting this info? Anubis was a god, Horus, Ra etc all gods this is polytheism, monotheism means one sole god no additional dieties.

Uh-uh. That’s your interpretation, and you’re using a modernized view of the phrase “before me” to try and rationalize your position. He also said, “I am the Lord, your God.” He did not say, “I am the Lord, your first God.”

Every ancient civilization I can think of was smart enough to know there is one god. The church started the pagan stuff. They point fingers at everyone else just like people point fingers at the church unjustly. I guess that’s just human nature. The church draws so much from the greek tracking this stuff down can be difficult. Like Jesus said “Seek and you’ll find…” and there’s more to the verse than quoted.

OT I’m going to jump in here if it’s allowed and ask a question myself if it’s allowed. I have a KJV bible. Not the catholic Bible. Anyone recommend the official bible? What’s it called NAB ?

I have a statue from Sideshow Collectibles and an Action Figure of THOR (Norse God) because I Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee THE AVENGERS!!!. 🙂 does that mean I cant have them? Im keeping them and the rest of my avengers figures.😃

As for the owrship of Anubis I wish to clarify. I never actually meant worship Anubis any more than we worship the saints. Only to talk to him as we do our saints.
