Anxiety and sin

Please pray for me, I am in this weird “friends with benefits” situation and it’s causing me a lot of anxiety, anger towards God, lack of happiness, and could be sinful as well.

Please pray that I have the courage to stop sinning in this manner if I’m suppose to and please pray that my anxiety stops being so bad. Side note - I have diagnosed anxiety and take medication
 
She is a very nice girl and I’m so glad I met her. I’d love to be in a relationship with her and she wants the same. But instead it’s this weird and scary situation and I feel like I’m losing my faith and I’m scared by that.

If I am not meant to be with this person (I’m only 20.5YO so who knows), I don’t want to do things I’ll regret and feel bad about. Like if I ultimately meet someone else and hopefully one day am married, will I be very sorry I touched someone sexually that wasn’t her?

Well I don’t know much about your situation but I think you should try to avoid sexual activity. And you should tell your friend that you want that to and see what her perspective is. Staying chaste is hard and so you also have to do your part to avoid occasions of sin. It is also harder if your friend does not not want to be chaste with you.
 
She wants to be chaste and pure and she believes what we are doing is chaste and pure.

At one point we got very close to having actual sex and we had to back off and this is when I started to wonder if we did too much. We both agree no sex but we also believe that if we were in a relationship, we wouldn’t have the self-control to not have sex at least once.

We just seem to have kept pushing the line further and further to the point where the line now doesn’t seem visible
 
Maybe you should look at some chastity talks and books with her. Passionate kissing is often sinful outside of marriage even if you don’t go all the way. You need to avoid occasions of sin like being alone in your room together. You need to focus on getting to know each other and you can do that with other friends or in public spaces. Also try to set limits you both agree on on what you consider going too far and how you will avoid doing those things. It is great she also wants to pure, but it is hard. Just do your best. You won’t be perfect all the time, you might fall, but as long as you are trying and you get right back up again I am sure God is pleased

I agree with everything you said. The problem is, we are both devout people, we both know Jason Evert, Christopher West, Matt Fradd, Cameron Fradd, Emily Wilson, Jackie Francois, Bobby Angel, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Bishop Robert Barron…

We do the daily masses sometimes, the prayers, where some crucifixes, we do something spiritual daily. So we are trying to be holy people but we also spend hours on and in her bed just us, whether it’s playing cards or watching a movie or going physically exploring.

We also have done things like traveling and such so it’s not like we just touch each other and do nothing else. Does that make sense or no?

I feel to a certain extent that I have let down a lot of people because I was always viewed as such a holy kid growing up and now in college a lot of people look up to me in the ministry side of things. She is the head of all the ministry stuff. So we are very involved

That can so easily become an occasion of sin for anyone, regardless of how holy they are. I don’t thing being in each other’s rooms alone is good.

You seem like you are serious about your faith. You are not bad for struggling with this and I know it is common even among good Catholic couples. There are certainly worse sins you could be committing, but you also need to avoid occasions of sin. Maybe you should talk to a Catholic friend or your priest, or someone who you trust to get their (name removed by moderator)ut.

Please don’t loose sight of what is good and true,that nothing is worth distancing our selves from Jesus for.Praying you find the strength to form healthy boundaries ,to love this daughter of God in the right way,to respect her and yourself by not placing yourselves in danger of sinning.

Dear Lord, help calm Matt’s anxiety, knowing that worries do not add wisdom, but rather add stress to the situation. Enlighten Matt through the power of your Holy Spirit to make wise decisions. Help him to turn towards You in these fragile moments with grace and strength. Comfort Matt as he lays all his concerns in your loving hands and Thy will be done. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
 
Father help guide this person on the right path. May they keep their ears open to hear you talk. May they understand what is good for their life and live strong in God. In your name, Jesus amen!
