  1. Praying The Holy Rosary daily
  2. Using Bar-bells and Dum-bells relieves and takes away episodes of anxiety and/or depression triggering a muscle that is in the arm to the brain.
  3. Jogging, Swimming, Walking daily breathing deeply
  4. Yoga positions praying The Holy Rosary at the same time
  5. Listening to Anti anxiety C.D’s a few times per week
  6. Saying this prayer daily: I offer up all of my Crosses including all anxieties, to Thee Dear Jesus, now and for Eternity followed by ten Hail Mary’s or Ten Our Father’s for World Peace and The Holy Souls in Purgatory. Picture Jesus’ Hands taking all of your anxieties and problems into His Hands; for Him to work His Holy Blessings through you daily.
  7. Know and reassure yourself that ‘nothing’ is as important in any of our lives other than our Relationship with Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus! Not the financial concerns, not the job/career, not anything! By Handing all of our worries and anxieties over to Jesus and through His Love and Mercy, He has taken enormous burdens off our shoulders! What a beautiful Blessing and Joy!
Thank you for your advice concerning trusting Jesus, it is very important to remember that always and that He can take all our problems and anxieties on Himself. I really appreciate your advice, but I must tell you that I have some doubts concerning some Church practices like the rosary, I substitute it with Our Father prayer and the Jesus prayer, and I have read about yoga positions that they themselves can open doors to the devil, without the intention of being engaged in any Eastern philosophical practices, so I avoid them completely and I suggest the same to you, try to research its dangers on the net if you want, that is how I encountered the information I have just told you.
Exercise is really important, thank you for reminding me of that, that must be taken care of in some form always.

Hi Iawoveuooo! I’m sorry for this time you are going through… I have been with anxiety, I hated psicologist, psikiatrist and all of kinds of mind doctors, but well you have to go to one,🤷 they are the experts, they are going to discover why are you so anxious, and how to end it and unless to control it.
I know that it’s not easy to talk about your life, to open your heart, your feelings and your life to a stranger, but today that is going to be the cross Jesuschrist is giving to you, and you cannot avoid it.

Don’t get any pills, teas or whatever, go to the specialist, I know it’s not easy…but if you want a solution…😊

I wish you the best!
Thank you for your encouragement and prayers, they help a lot. Yes, I must and I believe that Jesus knows about all our anxieties, hardships and He allows them for a reason as He has great love for us, just sometimes it is too tiring to fight against the devil, his hindrance in Christian life and all his attacks. I will definitely consider going to a doctor and take some professional advice as well.Thank you and I wish the best to you as well.

I too suffered from this since the age of 15 years old. I’m now 27. It wasn’t until I was 22 years old, that I realized something wasn’t right. I was diagnosed by my family physician with depression. I tried different kinds of medication which didn’t have much of an affect. My family physician then referred me to a local community mental health clinic in my area. I started out with an Occupational Therapist. It was then that I learned that I suffered from Anxiety. I saw her off and on for about several months. I saw a Psychiatrist a couple of times and then I was refered to a Social Worker with a background in Psychology. I saw him off and on for a year. Then things were going really well, but then I kind of relapsed and was very stressed and run down. This time I made a self referal to the mental health clinic and saw a different Social Worker for about 5 months and then she retired. Before She retired she refered me to an Anxiety workshop held there at the clinic. It was something like 13 weeks. It was the best thing I ever did for myself because it was there that I met my current therapist who is a registered Psychologist. I have been going to him now for a year. He is excellent.

My advice to you would be to look around for a good therapist. It really does help.

Since the death of my father, and some disappointments I have been having, like a burnout in my job, I can cope less and less with being in groups of people. It’s more and more difficult to talk and share, and I avoid all groups so by now, even if I can understand your suggestion might help, I am not able to talk with a group of people about my problems personally.
I think I can relate, on a much smaller scale. I might have burned out a couple of years ago. At first I experienced constant anxiety that sometimes seemed like it was “racing” and had some anxiety attacks (not full blown panic attacks - I’ve only had one of those, and wow, they are scary!). I tried some over-the-counter “stress-relievers” that were about as effective as breath mints, only without the minty smell. That was in May or June, and then for the rest of the year, the anxiety seemed to be replaced with one long “I don’t care.” I’m surprised that I kept getting work done!

That was two years ago. The next year I began to go to daily Mass in the mornings (whenever possible). I don’t know for sure, but it seems to have helped; I still get frustrated and occasionally anxious about my job, but I’m not experiencing unrelenting anxiety or burnout. The daily Mass crowd is small and I rarely have to talk to anyone. Just a thought, and not everyone has a schedule that will allow daily Mass…
🤷

I’m so sorry you are suffering with anxiety and panic… I’ve had anxiety since childhood. Almost 40 years. A little history so you know your not alone: I remember a a child and grade school having severe anxiety. I didn’t know why I was always worried As I got older the panic attacks started. Early twenties the depression on to of everything else . At 36 I had a major anxiety attack that lasted almost 2 months. I couldn’t get my anxiety under control and the depression was awful… I barely functioned & eventually sought the help of a mental health professional. I always avoided medication but I decided it was a necessity in order to start putting my life back together… My kids needed a healthy mother & I wanted my life back … I have OCD, and depression. I take a small mg of antidepressant daily & it helps. I took an anti anxiety med for a short term & that was really helpful to start thinking rationally again. Panic and anxiety cloud your thoughts…Do a Search for Father Groeschel + depression on YouTube. He has an audio of a talk he did about anxiety & depression. It’s helpful & he has experience. He is a psychologist. Also try some mindfulness techniques. That helps me a lot. I will pray for you… I know you didn’t mention depression in your post but often anxiety and depression are diagnosed together… Take care

Phobias run in my family. For me it’s bugs…my mom…it was doctors and hospitals and being left there alone (which never happened but it terrified her)…my grandmother …was terrified to step outside of her house. I’ve tried meds and they don’t work for me you might try exercise that works wonders when I’m stressed. Find something that relaxes you. For me being on the water in my kayak is the most relaxed I ever get there’s nothing like it. Find something like that to help you deal with the stress because that’s really what anxiety is …stress caused by fear…

Thank you for your wishes; I do not practice yoga however floor exercises with deep breathing my older daughter has used (not yoga itself) while praying and listening to music; this has healed her of the odd anxiety attacks last year along with running daily (the reason I suggest exercise and deep breathing floor exercises in addition to swimming and sports). I have been a jogger and it relieves stress and tension.

The Holy Rosary is not for everyone; I communicate closely with Mother Mary and Jesus during and after praying The Holy Rosary; all of my prayers answered for others and myself through Jesus Holy Rosary!

Kindest wishes.

Thank you for telling me how it is in your life and for recommending a therapist. Now I have been better, and I think it is mostly due to two things, Im saying it because it might help also you or others.
One of them is the Jesus prayer, the Name of Jesus which I pray all day, anytime I can, it becomes a habit, the Name of Jesus is almost constantly on my mind and heart and it helps me very much. Now I have anxiety symptoms a lot less and very few. I am doing nothing else, except for reading more about the Bible and Biblical interpretation, so Im sure the Jesus prayer helps. When I have my mind more free, I say the whole prayer. (Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me,a sinner)
The other thing is that Im close to my summer holiday from teaching, and my work causes a lot of pressure and stress for me. I would definitely recommend anyone who suffers from their work to change if they can. I would prefer a job which has very little to do with the world and worldy issues, to meet as few people (non-Christians) as possible, but I havent found it yet what else to do and how to achieve that.
Thank you and God bless you.

Thank you for your help and advice. I would love to go to Mass every day, I cant do it by now, but Im sure it must have helped you, as the prayer and Bible reading have helped me as I expressed it in my previous answer. Im sure that the Word of God studied in any way, at Mass or in Bible studies, or saying the Name of Jesus constantly cleans from all anxieties and fears and fills with the love of God.
I think I have burnout too, so it was very useful that you pointed it out, I dont like my job at all anymore, even if there are some students who would still worth the try to go on patiently in my efforts, they are not enough motivation anymore to bear all the others who are very rude.
I dont mind if I dont need to talk to anyone personally as I find it really difficult to talk in the past few months, so just going to mass and coming would be a perfect solution for me. Hope I can do that soon.God bless you.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with me and for encouraging me. Its good that you sought medication at that time, I am against medicine too but there are times when it is necessary. I had the panic illness too a few years ago, then completely disappeared, I thought its gone but then it came back.Thank you for the suggestion on youtube, I will definitely check it, Im sure it will help.
I dont have depression at all, thank God, I am very active and I love doing many things in life, I think my main problem is my job and my financial insecurity. I know many others have too struggle with the same things, and I know Im not alone, but this causes a lot of nervousness. I have never been depressed, hopefully I wont be as I dont feel any inclination for it, but nervousness for the many ways of stress in my life.
Its so good to meet people who can share my experiences and feelings, even if I wish none of us had these illnessed, but sharing is important, and those, even family members who havent experinced it, cannot properly share it, and its not their fault.
I mentioned in my previous answers the Jesus prayer Im praying, I try to keep it in my mind all day long, it gives me lots of peace and fights my fears, it feels as if Jesus was fighting instead of me, if I call on His Name constantly, and it is a lot less burden. Also Bible reading and reflection on it every day helps a lot.
God bless you and you too take care.

Thank you for your advice, its a very good idea to do some exercise, unfortunately I do it rarely in lack of time, but I will do it more often. Yes, please see my previous posts, answers there, they might help you too, I think prayer and Bible reading are very important and have helped me a lot in fighting anxiety, actually it gives so much healing that I couldnt even imagine.
Fear is dangerous but we must keep in mind that it comes from the devil and its the opposite of love, and also that perfect love casts out fear, so we must not let it control our thoughts at all, so that is why I think keeping in my the Name of Jesus always is so helpful, as Jesus and fear cannot stay in the mind at the same time.
God bless you.

Thank you for explainining. I think these floor exercises while praying must be very nice, and also your suggestion for sports, now its summer, better weather and more freetime, so I will definitely take up more sports and see how they help me. Its great that your daughter was healed from anxiety attacks, and also that your prayers are answered by God. God bless you and take care!

Not to be a skunk at the picnic, but anxiety tends to come and go for no reason, so you could have a good period where you are not having much if any, and then it can come raging back. If it does, do not feel as though you are a failure because it came back. And I would still urge you very sincerely, go and see your doctor and do not rule out medications. The time and energy you spend fighting your anxiety could be put to better uses with the right medication. As I said, I do not take a daily pill for anxiety, only as-needed, and it is fairly rare that I need it (although when I do need it, it’s obvious and I take it ASAP).

One caveat about herbal remedies is that they’re not regulated, so you can’t be sure what potency you’re getting.

Certain herbals for anxiety/depression are used in Europe but not the U.S. I have been curious to try them (St. John’s Wort is one) but have shied away from it because of the regulation/potency issue.

Exactly this way, there are very good periods and sometimes terrifying ones. It’s quite a lonely feeling as people who haven’t experienced it cannot really understand, and I would say that some of them don’t even believe it or might thing that I’m exaggerating which doesn’t help, but I cannot blame them as they don’t know how it feels. I have decided by now to see the doctor and take medication as it affects not only me but also my environment. Unfortunately I blame myself for my behaviour at those times, even if I can recognise that I should not and God still loves me even if I’m ill. It’s good that you don’t need to take it every day, I hope I can do the same if I need it. By now there is one more thing which worries me about it, it’s very difficult for me to contact and talk to people, more and more, I feel exhausting when I need to care for others, I want to be alone many times and I think it can be worse, and it’s not normal,so it is high time to see the doctor, as you suggested. Thank you for your encouragment, I will pray for you and God bless you!

What I take is a combination of catnip (I hope I translated properly, there were more options), passion flower and hop. It seems to be harmless, I don’t experience any side effects just feeling better if I take them. I take these regularly twice a day. St John’s Wort I’m drinking in tea, not every day, but regularly, it is very nice too and it cures also depression. I have a lot of regulation issues of the FDA in the US, I would not dare to tell you to trust them on this, try to read about regulations in Europe, they are widely used here and I have not heard about any side effects or any negative opinion from anyone about these. Many people take or drink all these herbs I listed. God bless you.

As someone with a bug phobia that has had anxiety attacks in the past and recently I would suggest finding something relaxing to do to take you mind off whatever is causing the issue. For me sometimes a movie or book helps other times it a float on the river. Music can also be beneficial as well as a healthy diet free of too many carbs and fats. I can’t do meds myself as they make me sick and I can’t afford them even if I wanted them. Prayers also help.
