Any bronies (meaning MLP fans who are male)?

  2. By using MLP as an excuse to do something stupid, I’m talking about using MLP as a justification for anything idiotic that happens in real life and/or the internet. I’ve seen people use MLP to justify bestiality, slash pairings, crack pairings, pornography, bullying among other immoral and idiotic thing imaginable. If I had put examples, the post would be too long. O:
  3. Here is my problem with it. Recoloring any character is considered art theft. Last I checked, MLP characters are copyrighted. This means that recoloring them and then making an OC with it is considered art theft.

Anyway, you seem to be reading many discussions between fans for someone who is not a fan… 🙂

And on the last part - if Hasbro doesn’t seem to mind, why should you?

I don’t even go to MLP fan forums. I got that from mostly YouTube, FaceBook, fanfiction.net and deviantART.

The problem with recoloring is this:
Most of the recolorists do not even mention the original owners, let alone credit them. This is an especially annoying problem with certain franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and MLP. If they do not credit the owner/s of said character/s, then it can be grounds for an art theft case.

in all honestly, who cares. like a persons lack of creativity makes any difference weather or not they say “hasbro” in the corner. its really just a formality, everyone know the original artist. what difference does it make

I don’t go to MLP pages. It just so happens that I see MLP on places such as deviantART and YT a lot.

My problem is this:
I’ve seen many recolorists brag that they have OCs when their OCs are actually someone else’s character.

Well, that sounds like a really strange reason not to like MLP itself… I can’t think of any argument behind it (although maybe there is one - or maybe it is not meant to be a reason for that)…

Anyway, are you sure that saying “It’s a Hasbro’s character.” would never count as a defamation of Hasbro…? 🙂 And whatever you think about “art theft”, “defamation” is far far worse. After all, it is mentioned in the Catechism. 🙂
 
as far as “recoloring” goes, if you seen the show then youll know that there really isnt much variety in body template. A LOT of backround ponys are palette swaps anyway. so it only stands to reasone that when a fan makes the obligitory self-insert, the only option they have is “body type, male or female” then a color. but really, a supposit recolor OC is better then the HiE
 
I haven’t seen the show per se, but I do know that there’s not much variety in body templates, much like Sonic The Hedgehog.

The fandoms are pretty much the same as well, both are mainly child-like men of modern times(this isn’t meant to be offensive, just putting my opinion based on my own, and others, experience with such people).

The only other difference between the two is that the Sonic fanbase has more rabid fans which are very vocal. MLP does not. Little wonder why there’s surprise when I mention rabid fans.

Not as of late, the sonic fans have mainly died off to most people’s vision, the MLP people like it to be known who they are wherever they go. They’ve taken the crown from the Sonic fans, and there are many smaller CWCs in their crowd, they just haven’t been singled out like him yet, but soon enough it will happen.
 
From what I’ve seen, even Winx Club has recolors. O:

I am very careful about any reports of CWC-like individuals within the MLP fanbase.
 
As you can probably tell by my username, I am a fan of the show :D.

I’m really surprised to see that many bronies here (and I’m extremely happy about it!).

I can’t wait for the 3rd season! Brohooves all around /)!

I did and I had a good laugh reading Traditionalism’s posts :). Nonetheless, I didn’t expect so many bronies here.

It also teaches things like “Let’s believe in things not because we understand them, but because they just FEEL right!”
I am referring to the episode when Pinkie Pie’s body twitches as a warning sign to catastrophic events. That can be doubly misconstrued as “That is how faith works” (Christian values) or “Do whatever FEELS right” (Post-modernist societal values).

I just started watching the series a week ago when my twin sister came for a visit and forced it on me. Apparently some “bronies” introduced her to the show. My atheist roommate and I have been commenting on the double-nature of the MLP messages ever since. :rolleyes:

Still, the show is entertaining.
