Quick question: Can a christian do drawing/art or would they be forbidden since it is bearing false Testimony or making an illusion thus making a false testimony? I am a Illustrator as well as a Christian so I need to ask this.

Council in 787 regarding the iconoclasm decided that it is possible to have both statues and icons. You might like to look into it.

Christ had a body while walking on planet Earth and is therefor possible to paint or carve an image of. We don’t worship the images which is what the OT readings are about. The images or statues are a reminder of who they portrait as photos of your relatives are reminding you of them. Your relative is not the paper the photo is printed on neither is Christ the stone or wood the statue is made of.

There was a movement during the reformation that whitewashed the walls in churches so the paintings were covered or knocked down. Statues were buried or taken up to the attic and left there. A lot of statues were destroyed totally or partially. Some of the images were considered to be to Catholic but mostly it was seen as “worshipping images”. The newer movements within protestant denominations like baptists and more charismatic didn’t have any paintings or statues in their early days either. Some have now introduced paintings and statues in their churches.
