I like Salvatore Dali’s surreal religious art.
 
Wow. My dearly beloved Dad had that Dali crucified painting above his bed.
You can’t inage my shock, clicking that one -
Never asked him about it…that was today’s surprise award !
 
I think the painting is called “ on the road to Damascus “
It’s when Jesus was thought dead, and two pals were walking home sad.
 
Most of the art I like just seems to be floating around the Internet on various meditation videos and websites (some of them Protestant or Mormon) without any attribution. Like this one (needs more angels though)

This one, “The Prince of Peace” by Harry Andersen, was actually painted by a Seventh Day Adventist, not a Catholic. I have to admit I like it anyway.

For the purposes of the discussion, how are we defining artwork as Catholic, anyway? The artist is Catholic regardless of subject matter? The images portrayed are Catholic regardless of the religion of the artist? Both? Something else? 🤔
 
I think it belongs on the wall right next to another gem of its era, which is definitely Catholic: “The Peace Sowers” by Walter Molino. My aunt had this picture backintheday

Here’s a piece of literature I love.

“Pied Beauty” by Fr John Manley Hopkins is a classical piece of romantic literature.

Gory be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
