Any catholic scifi or fantasy writers here?

Hello,

I’m a catholic as well as a science fiction and fantasy writer. i was wondering if there are other writers here on this site as i do not know any other catholic writers in my area. i was hoping that we could bounce around ideas and talk about them, maybe review each other’s works.

I’m a writer as well. Mostly detective fiction, mostly short stories. Every once and a while I’ll dabble around in fantasy, but usually only as a writing exercise to break out of the land of crime.

I normaly writte original fantasy with sci-fi elements, but I also enjoy writting Almost Human fanciction 🙂
 
I’ve written some Harry Potter fan-fiction, if that counts. I usually have some Catholic ideas or characters hidden in them (but not all).

Well, t his is off to a good start, I think.

so far i’m writing two series. I’m working ont he last prequel to my very first book that I finished. i plan on writing several more series. I usually write military scifi as I grew up reading it. i’m the Author of the Immortals series (both the Mech books and the Mike wallace books) and the Adria’s series (conception and birth lines) all are on the kindle. I’m also working on my first apocalyptic scifi book that still needs some kind of name. i wanted to call it ‘orphan father’.
 
I’m very interested in writing Catholic themed Sci-fi and fantasy, as well, and I’ve started trying to write my first book. I’m admittedly very secretive with my ideas, however, and barely discuss them with anyone. However, I will say that I think there is a strong need for strongly spiritually themed sci-fi and fantasy books.

I find that belonging to a writers’ group has been very helpful in improving my writing. Rather than being secretive, it might be good to get your ideas out there and bounce them off others. Granted, I don’t discuss everything with my group, but we read chapters and critique them. Tolkien and C.S.Lewis used to do that with their group the Inklings, if you recall.

If you write a science fiction or fantasy book, your Catholic Christianity will no doubt permeate your work whether you intend it to or not.
I was not attracted to the Left Behind books, mostly because they seemed poorly written. And the theology was off, of course.
But you’re probably right that more books like C.S,Lewis’ science fiction trilogy would be great.

My books are about non-Christian people living in the world that God made and is active in, so I try to be subtle. But people tell me my books come across as violently pro-life. Hard to be subtle about such things,
 
I love sci fi. I haven’t written anything yet, due to being in school can make it difficult to work on things. But I do have some great ideas.
 
I’ve published a sci-fi novel that’s primarily about God’s mercy: Rain from Heaven. I was inspired to write it after reading St. Faustina’s Diary. It’s on Amazon Kindle, and, since I wrote it for the greater glory of God and not for money, all net profits are going to charity. (I should probably mention I put it at the lowest price Amazon would allow.)

Currently, I am working on the last prequel to my first book potential. this series focuses mainly on mike wallace as he progresses from being a violent and counter terrorist at the end of the first book, to being a teacher and caregiver as well as a ruler as the series progresses. I guess I am exploring the theme of the King archetype. Mainly, i write military scifi.
 
I’ve read both of Kay Cee’s books and enjoyed them immensely. I liked Nearer the Dawn so much that I’ve begun reading it again.

I’ve posted reviews on Amazon for both novels and gave each one five stars! 😃
