Any Catholic teens here?

That’s great to hear! I kind of had the opposite for a while. I became a bit scrupulous and sought out different resources to learn about the faith, but what I hadn’t realized was that I fell into a Protestant theology and worldview (albeit for like a month). I immersed myself in countless articles and videos, started doubting Catholicism as heretical, then it just went up and down from there until I settled and came out feeling more confident sticking to THE Church.

A major aspect that led me more towards the Catholic Church was confusion about Sola Scriptura and how everyone claimed to have the truth and the right interpretation of the Bible despite the something thousand denominations branching out, with many of them being incompatible with one another. I wanted to denounce the CC and just be with the church which had that truth and right interpretations… which lead me back to where I started lol (though now I’m actually trying to adhere to its teachings).

Well, I’m happy that you found the truth that you were looking for. It takes a lot of humility and even courage to admit that what you’ve held to be true for so long might not be. I also admire how in your search for the truth, you stuck firmly to reason and logic instead of having faith that rejects those things (which unfortunately a lot of people tend to see as a necessary component to being Christian).

I have another question that sort of goes out to everyone; do you guys have any specific resources that you use to deepen your faith and knowledge about it? I certainly have my own little collection of people on Youtube and elsewhere to check out every now and then that I’d love to share.

Also, side note: if anyone has suggestions on how to better organize this thing I’ve started and how to deal with more people joining and talking that’d be just fine, lol

You mean as a teenager? I mean I’m not gonna enforce it like some Codename KND thing (if anyone remembers that) 😆

Well howdy then. Welcome aboard this weird wild ship I’m trying to man.

Would you like to share anything in particular?
I also am still posing my last question:

I kind of read random books that reaffirm what I been learning. I most focus on devotionals and things like that.

Sweet. Any specific suggestions?
As for me, I watch a lot of Fr. Mike Schmitz and Bishop Barron here and there. There’s a youtuber named LizziesAnswers who used to be Protestant and had a gradual conversion to Catholicism. Steubenville Youth talks are also great to check out.

What app was this btw?

Alphonsus Liguori is a good writer. I think you can find some of his writings online for. I watched Lizzie’s Answers for some time, but I got a bit caught up in arguing in the comments section.

Oh by the way, I might start a PM group so if anyone would want to be part of that and possibly get to know others on this site with similar experiences, then please feel free to PM me.

Circling back to the Catholic teen experience, I have another question for you all; how does your identity as a Catholic affect your relationships in school, with friends, etc.? This really interests me, especially considering what’s been going on recently.

i’m a catholic teen in a protestant environment. lately, I’ve had trouble accepting some Marian dogmas. i want to believe that Catholics don’t worship Mary and that’s what the church says but then i see some Marian devotion prayers and the prayers of some saints to Mary in catholic prayer books and the words all sound like worship to me. they look like words you should be praying to Jesus and not to Mary.
like the Totus Tuus, for example

Here’s a quote by St. Louis de Montfort regarding prayers to Our Mother:

“It is as if a peasant, wishing to gain the friendship and benevolence of the king, went to the queen and presented her with a fruit which was his whole revenue, in order that she might present it to the king. The queen, having accepted the poor little offering from the peasant, would place the fruit on a large and beautiful dish of gold, and so, on the peasant’s behalf, would present it to the king. Then the fruit, however unworthy in itself to be a king’s present, would become worthy of his majesty because of the dish of gold on which it rested and the person who presented it.”

There’s also a quote from St. Maximilian Kolbe that I remember, about how there’s no way we could love Mary more than Jesus does. She leads us to her son and our Lord in a way that is more powerful and intimate than if we had not known her as our loving mother, if we only accept her.
