looking to find any Catholic churches starting to offer the Latin Mass in ND or MN. I know that Fargo, ND Cathedral of St. Mary’s has started only on the basis if attendance regulates continuing after Jan 1, 2008

There is a SSPX chapel that is wonderful in Bismarck ND. Other tha n that the Bismarck Diocess is not friendly to the TLM at all, so that would be your best bet in that area. Also, there is one on Minot AFB if you have access to that installation.

didn’t mean to sound rude. I have been to the SSPX for 4 years, and finally realized they are trying to take over the Church after Lefebre(sp?) died. they are messing everything up for themselves.

Worldwide, they are actually growing by leaps and bounds, and this is certaintly suprising after Summorum Pontificum.
It doesn’t suprise me. Those families who joined them early on have given their children the benefit of experiencing the Catholic Faith as it was for centuries. Many of these families have also given their children the benefit of a time tested Catholic education. The kind my parents and myself had.

Pope Benedict has reached out to them. I pray they take his hand and return. They don’t have to give up any of their devotion to the Faith to do so. They stand to gain much if they return. In some cases, I’d bet that they would be offered some of the old chuches in the larger cities that are sitting idle due to merging of parishes. A lot of these have High Altars 🙂

But indeed, they will have to realize Rome calls the shots.

To Liz Beth. There is also a mass in Oriska ND at 2pm each sunday. St. Bernard of Clairvox is the church. Mandan has the sspx church. I understand that Bishop Zipfel is having a number of priests trained or to be trained in Denton Neb. Also I know of a number of priests who so very much want to celebrate a Tridentine mass. I have been praying for a long time to have the old mass said here in this diocese and I am going to keep praying until it comes to pass. God Bless.

To Lizbeth again, I forgot to mention that there are numerous churches in Minnesota. Flensburg, Mankato, and St. Augustines in S. St. Paul and another one that just started in W. St. Paul. There is also a great Latin novus ordo mass at St. Agnes church in St. Paul. They are now talking about having the Tridentine mass there as well. There are probably more that I missed. Check out the Latin mass church locations in the US. A lot of churches have been added since September. Good luck.:

I’m from the East Coast, but, I did ask the Priest if there would be a Latin Mass in the near future. Smiling, he told me to “get a life”,this caught me by such surprise I spurted out (politely" YOU get a life. He then explained to me that he would not understand what he was praying, if he said a Latin Mass; He’s a retired priest, so I would say, he probably learned this in the seminary?
It saddens me to know that the Holy Father has recently asked us to return to the Latin Mass. Aren’t we One, Universal Church anymore?

To Glor, I would say, take heart—There either is or will be a Latin mass near you. I find it very interesting that some of the older priests are not interested and sometimes they are outright hostile to the old mass. The greatest interst is in the young and in our young priests,–many of whom I know are passionate in their quest to be able to say the Tridentine mass. The Holy father , I understand has also said that seminaries must teach both the ordinary and extraordinary forms of the mass. Deo Gratias

Yes I would agree that most of the older, especially retired Priests are not interested or could be that after 40 yrs or so of saying the Mass this way, they have become comfortable with it.
Also, like you, I believe that the young men that are in the seminary will “take up the charge”. Our hope is in the Lord and I am confident He will put us back on the right track!
Deo Gratias!
