So we thought.

But at my back, of late, I hear…

OTOH, my mother said I was 32 years old when I was born, never passing through the teen ages.

32? Well I never. Perhaps you thought if you couldn’t make your sun stand still, yet you would make him run.

Rather, I always thought I had world enough and time, to sit down, and think which way to walk, and pile the books to read. Time enough. I now misdoubt me. Common condition, I think.

Well, I think that when upon the beach that’s exactly the right way to wear them, but then I’ve never been too interested in fashion: it wouldn’t have been worth it, after all. And I go in for teaspoons rather than coffee spoons.

But not too daring.

To try to drag myself a little closer to the OP … I was in East Coker not long ago. It is indeed a lovely place, but unfortunately rather threatened by the planned expansion of urban Yeovil. I suppose there are too many lovely villages, too many ancient churches, and too many poets, for their surroundings to be preserved in perpetuity.
