Yes, I thought that SDA’s were exclusive in this teaching but have since found out that it is a doctrine found in Arianism and that several teach it as well. I grew up thinking it was totally normal and true.
I remember the first time I said it to my Catholic husband. I tried to convince him. He didn’t buy it and asked where I had gotten this from. “The Bible” I said. Turns out that since I was taught SDA doctrine from kindergarten to my bachelor’s degree, the Bible and EGW are so woven together that I can’t discern sometimes.🤷
I’m just realizing that if Christ is GOD (not MADE) there is no way he could be created or have a pre-Christ form without ceasing to be God. How do you see it?

This is the natural outgrowth of insisting the Church was “corrupted by constantine” and the decisions of the Councils were erroneous. It often manifests as people deciding someone must have been right at the council and therefore siding with “the other guy” those condemned at Nicea ( the Arians ). The confusion for SDA is after being firmly arian in most of their leadership until the early 1900’s, they had a sudden reversal based on EGW and went Trinitiarian but they have a lot of stuff that they try to make line up, when in fact it doesn’t. For instance as late as their 1940’s hymnal ( the old black one ) they changed the words to the standard protestant hymn Holy Holy Holy to remove the phrase “God in three persons blessed trinity” and replace it with “God overall who rules eternity.”

A lot of SDA stuff was more common among many protestant groups back in the 1800s than most of us realize.

People from many different denominations joined William Miller’s 1843 / 44 religious movement…
…And when William Miller openly stated he was in error with his teachings everyone returned to their denominations.
…Leaving ONLY the people who didn’t have a denomination to return to.

This “core group” had only one thing in common - their anti-Trinitarianism…
…Soon this core group started to squabble over what doctrines they should believe.
…This started a fracture within the anti-Trinitarians.

The SDA’s wanted to separate themselves from the others so they opted for the Sabbath sign…
…The Christadelphians, WWCOG and JW’s also fabricated distinctives to separate themselves.
…Thus all these groups are “Adventist”, they are just not all Seventh Day Adventist.

God the Son is God for the identical reason God the Father and God the Holy Spirit is ‘God’…
…Arians such as the SDA’s state that Christ was “essentially God”.
…In other-words Christ is close enough that He “almost is”.

The other thing to realize is that SDA’s are Anthropomorphites…
…Meaning that they believe that God the Father is ( and has always been ).
…A hominid flesh & bone God.

They teach that God the Father has a “personality” which to them means that God has a body of flesh, bone and organs…
…The same as a perfect human would have.

At the resurrection of Christ SDA’s believe that Jesus sloughed off His earthly body…
…And adopted a similar body to what He had prior to the Incarnation.
…That body was identical to Michael the Archangel.
…Complete with “wings”.

This is said because the SDA’s believe that Christ pre-existed the Incarnation as Michael the Archangel…
…And when Christ comes the 2nd time He will come as Michael the archangel.
…Where he will throw Lucifer the Archangel into a pit of fire where Lucifer ceases to exist.
