Any experience out there with getting paid to take surveys?

So, I found several sites online that promise good money just for taking surveys in your pj’s. This was a site that said it was not a scam, but said to be careful of other sites that are and that about 98% of work from home programs are a scam.

The site is surveyscout.com and it seems legit. You do need to pay a registration fee. However, am I going to have to spend hours and hours taking surveys in order to make some decent money? Not talking about getting rich here, but just want to supplement dh’s income a little.

Anyone done anything like this before? Please share with me your experiences. Thanks:)
 
Did they ask ya for any money or personal information? They’ll say its for stuff like processsing fees, handling charges etc.

When/if that happens, you can be pretty sure its a scam.
 
Agree with Bama above - if they want money from you to give you a job, it IS a scam.

Can you make money at home on the computer in your PJ’s - yep. Start your own business or move what you do professionally to an internet site.

You guys are making good points. The site does say that the fee is for finding the surveys for you. I am losing interest already.
 
I did this for a while . With reputable companies. Just for pocket money. You can’t make a living doing this.I also tested products and answered questions about them. So free product and the satisfaction of feeling my opinions made an impact on what got put on the shelves.

Your sucess varies with the demographic you fill as well. Age , sex, language you speak, income etc.

Thanks, Seatuck! I just might give it try now. It’s hard to navigate the web and be aware of what is real and what is not. I’ll check out your site.
 
I am on mysurvey.com and just got a free package of diapers so that I can take a survey for them:D There is no fee to sign up and it is taking me a while to get up enough points for the $$ but I did get free diapers so I am a happy camper.😃
 
I have done surveys for several sites, and it takes a looooong time to rack up enough points to get either a check or a prize. I do them occaisionally though, and sometimes get free product to test. In the last month I have gotten a full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner, a lip balm, and a couple packs of baby wipes. I also cashed in a check for $20 in paypal. But it took several months to earn it. 🤷 Every little bit helps, but the hourly pay rate is awful. 😛

BTW, anyone who asks for money is a scam, all the legit sites who pay you are free. 👍
 
I’m kind of looking at stuff along the same lines. Have any of you been mystery shoppers? I’ve thought about doing that but I’m not sure if I’d just get scammed or end up spending more money than I’d make.

The volition site listed above is a great resource for MS.

Rarely can you make a steady income from MS, but you can get a good lunch or dinner out and a little grocery money. The key to MS is to work for several different companies and give lots of details.

I have significant experience working on the “other side” for a MS company, and there are excellent shoppers who can do very well by us. Others…not so much. (the devil is in the details!)

I agree with PP’s: I do surveys for multiple sites, and for all the time I put into it, I get very little in return. However, what has worked out well is to make surveys the way I pay for Christmas. 🙂 I spend the whole year accumulating points and PayPal cash and rewards gifts, then in Oct/Nov, I use them to buy gifts for the folks that I won’t be making something for. It has turned out to be a great blessing! I use the following sites, all of which are free:

LightSpeedPanel
ZoomPanel/Zoomrewards
e-Rewards (requires an invitation to join, I believe)

There is another great site that pays you points to “Read Your Email” and also gives you Points for shopping through them – just by clicking a link in advertising emails sent everyday (usually 3-5 per day), I rack up something like $100 in points by the end of the year (and, I do this on two separate accounts). That’s $200 in gift cards I don’t have to shell out cash for, and I can either give them as-is or use them to get what I know my recipient wants. It is called MyPoints, and if you want to join, would you send me a pm? I would love to send you a referral email so I can get extra points if you sign up!!

Merchandising is another way for part time earning. The cost of gas ( I drive an Explorer), my daughters busy schedule and the fact that driving is not my thing pretty much took me out of the game this year. But I know people (online )that actually make a living out of this plus Mystery Shopping. Getting registered with an agency like NARMS is helpful. I get several calls a month still through NARMS. I was able to get easy jobs with no experience. They paid for training. The hourly rate is low but if you combine more than one job per day it makes it doable. All depends upon your area and what stores are there and how many merchandisers there are already working. My area is saturated with them. If your schedule is flexible and you can lift 30 pounds or more you can do very well.

Mystery Shoppers should get certified at the basic level. Some companies will take on beginners . Most companies will ask you to do a few for free to see if you are competent.

Another part timer job is Auditing. You have seen auditors in the store with those hand held machines and slips of paper. Some of those Auditing companies will allow you to work part time. Some won’t.

One more of those part time jobs is public record recording. One such company is Sunlark Research. You get assigned to go to the Courts and retrieve information then transmit it back. Earning potential is varied.

Volition has a lot of info on all this stuff. The writers on the forum do a lot of networking with each other and offering good advice.

What did you sign up for at Volition?
What I did was sign up for the forums and then go to each individual company in the listings that received good reviews by the folks in the forums and sign up. In some cases I got referrals from the people in the forums. I did sign up for Pinecone from an ad on Volition. Make sure you read the requirements thoroughly of any website you sign up on.For instance the paid to read or click sites. I couldn’t be bothered to sign up for an offer and then worry about cancelling and I didn’t want to give out my credit card number either . So I didn’t sign up for any of those things at all. I kept a notebook with all my passwords and sign ons as well as the companies that I registered with and the date I attempted to sign up on. .

Mystery Shopping generally is getting hired by a company to go into a store or business engage in a transaction and then answer a questionnaire which must be submitted in a timely and well written manner. Again I got some information on this from the listings on Volition as well as the forums. Many of the sucessful shoppers took the Certification from :

                                                                                                                                                                                 lol.  Watch your wallet   and personal ID.  Ain't nuthin  free, as used to be said in kuntry  :)
