I have a co-worker, a Filipino, who is a member of “Iglesia ni Cristo.”
I am greatly disturbed by their denial of Jesus being G-d and the claims of their founder. I’ve been trying to work on some of this, then I realised that maybe I’m reinventing the wheel. Maybe there are resources by Filipino Catholics that I can turn to. If there are, I would really appreciate the help.

It’s useless to debate with the INC. Many are openly belligerent towards the Catholics.

You may want to seek assistance from a Filipino Facebook Apologetics group “Defensores Fidei Foundation” It’s a closed group so request for membership first.

My co-worker is belligerent anyway.
Still, I don’t want to just sit idly by and watch people led astray. I might as well prepare myself for any debates that may develop, in the hope that our Lord can use me to open eyes.

btw: the Keating and Romero videos have been removed from YouTube.
The InC has some really good lawyers.

I’m sure there are many fine Filipino apologists out there.

Google and get a hold of Brother Marwil Llasos.

If he’s not the best Filipino apologist he currently is one of the best.

Just go to his sites and start reading all his posts and you will be amazed
at how refined he is at defending Catholic doctrine against all who oppose the Church.

I’m glad Brother Marwil is Catholic.

Check some of this out:

This is a very good link on “The Communion of Saints”

Ask him for his free Ebook on the Blessed Virgin Mary (he had a link to it but the
link was inactive at the time so he sent it to me personally).

Show him this link so he knows were are discussing him over here (in a good way) too.

He has an unabashed love for Our Church and defends it quite cogently.

I contacted him about a different issue once and he helped me immediately.
Brother Marwil is friends with Steve Ray (an American Catholic apologist who
is also quite good–but he deals mostly with Protestantism).

Brother Marwil seems to deal mostly with Protestantism too but him living in the Philippines, and me seeing his other items, I’m absolutely SURE he could help
with the overt cynicism that is seen with people who are into INC or Iglesia ni Cristo.

Be very careful with INC apologists. That is quite a cult. I saw Karl Keating’s
debate with Jose Ventilacion.

Karl was quite convincing.

If you are looking for more of the “philosophic side” of the issues, Google
Paul Horrigan. If you check around the web, he has 5 or 6 free philosophy EBooks he gives away that are quite good. He also has a page on Scribd too.

If you want to download anything from Scribd you need to make an account and put up some writing of your own (most people just post a food recipe).

Here is one link that is still active for carrying Dr. Horrigan’s writings.

You can also get a couple of Dr. Horrigan’s books on Amazon and I have (you want to financially support guys like this). Check here and here.

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you all for your responses. 👍

Yes, they are a dangerous group. May the Lord guide me and protect me in this matter.

Maybe this person can contact Fr. Leo Patalinghug and Cardinal Tagle. Cardinal Tagle is very active on youtube but I am not sure if he directly communicates with people. You can probably contact Fr. Leo Patalinghug given his information. The youtube link I am posting provides Catholic apologetics, you just have to search for it. Cardinal Tagle does a lot of reflections on this youtube page but he offers a lot of apologetics. Good luck!

Here is the Keating vs Ventilacion debate. I could not locate the whole debate in one video.

I think the Keating debate deals with more issues with the INC than the Romero debate. Keating deals with some of the publications of the INC…and some of their teachings.

There are some verses, word for word, in the Bible that says, Jesus is God, but nothing says He’s not. like in Hebrew 1:8," The Father (God the Father) said to the Son (Jesus), Thy throne, oh God, is forever and ever". Here even God the Father called Jesus God.

Im a Filipino and i have a friend of mine we live a normal life but our religion is different im a Catholic but she is " Iglesia ni Kristo"

Pablope, thank you for the links. The links posted earlier had been taken down and a search revealed nothing, so it seems that someone developed a workaround.

I always say to many people that these INC(s), diehard or not, do not have enough common sense in them. They claim that Christ is not God, but then,Â*if the Son is not God, then it is like an apple in a tree of oranges. It is also evident just in the firsg line of the gospel acc to John that Jesus is the Word that was in the beginning, and was with God, and was God, and made His dwelling among us.

Furthermore, one commented on facebook about numerous passages, people refer to Jesus as mere man. Yet the people on those passages if you were to examine them, are of less faith and do not know yet that Jesus is the Messiah and the only begotten Son of the Living God. And it was only revealed to Peter, not of the flesh but of the spirit, our first pope. I just don’t think their line of reasoning is valid.

I’m a Catholic apologist from the Philippines. I write articles for the splendorofthechurch.com.ph blog by Fr Abe Arganiosa. I use a different name there brother. What can I do to help?

An execellent book you can read against the INC is the one by Dr. Tino Ruivivar, entitled, THE ABSURD CLAIMS AND BIGGEST MISTAKES OF THE IGLESIA NI CRISTO.

Thank you for the book recommendation, my brother! I will track it down.
