We question this particular doctrine using common sense and by using the Bible. Foremost, all animals have “blood” and this blood can be found in their arteries, veins, and capillaries. Even if we bleed out an animal, we will not be able to TOTALLY remove its blood from its microcirculation. Even when they are dead and bled out, we can still see blood within their vessels histologically. Cooking this animal will theoretically give us “MICRO DINUGUAN” right? So indirectly, they too eat blood. They will contest that since they are not aware of this fact, then they are not sinning based on their doctrine. But guess what, your rebuttal is “NOW YOU KNOW! So the next time you eat meat, you know that there is still blood there.”
Secondly, in the Bible there are many verses that directly destroys their doctrine. Let’s take for example 1 Timothy 4:4-5. “4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by God’s word and by prayer.5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”
St Paul said that every creature of God is good if received with thanksgiving. We Catholics give thanks to God when we receive food from God’s goodness. Now I ask, don’t they (INC) give thanks before meals?
Jesus Himself tells us the reason why eating food that came from God is not forbidden. Let us check Matthew 15:11 “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.”
See? If they say that eating blood is a sin, then they would be saying that “what enters a man’s mouth makes him sin”… This would contradict what Jesus has just said.
Is Jesus lying then?
You may also check Mark 7:18-23… “18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 For it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and then goes out into the sewer.” (This means all foods are clean.)19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 He said, "What comes out of a person defiles him.20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the human heart, come evil ideas, sexual immorality, theft, murder,21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evils come from within and defile a person.“23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
St Paul instructed us not to judge… Romans 14:1-3 “1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 One person believes in eating everything, but the weak person eats only vegetables.2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 The one who eats everything must not despise the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not judge the one who eats everything, for God has accepted him.3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.”
Catholics do not forbid and do not judge based on what a person eats. They say that we are sinners for we eat blood. I ask, who follows St Paul’s instructions then?
Even St Peter was instructed by God to eat what was previously forbidden by Jews. Telling him that “What God has made clean, you are not to call profane” (Acts 10:15)
