Hey all! My Catholic grandmother recently asked if I know of any good books on heaven. I would like to give her one on just that topic. Any recommendations? I have heard good things on Fulton Sheen’s “Go to Heaven”…

Particularly, I am partial to any Catholic classics vs modern books, at least in most cases. This is put simply because the classics have been tested and tried. However, it is worth mentioning that she is in the early stages of developing Alzheimer’s. I think she’d be able to follow a simple book, as she seems to be able to follow conversations still fairly well. But I know that her reading comprehension will likely worsen as her Alzheimer’s does, so I want to get her a book asap.

Also, please say a prayer that I can get her to a TLM soon. Before she got the Alzheimer’s, she told me she wants to get to a solemn high mass before she dies. Now that she has this condition, I am not sure I will ever be able to get her to one.

Thanks all!

St.Alphonsus - Preparation for Death - has a good parts about the Just and their reward in heaven.

If you are open to a more modern selection: ‘A Travel Guide to Heaven’ by Anthony DeStefano was a charming and comforting read. Also, it’s very easy and approachable 🙂

Praying for your grandma and that you take your grandma to an EF Mass soon enough so she can enjoy it.

I know about a book that says on how to get to Heaven it’s pretty long since it talks about the beginning and end of time and has multiple books(66 to be exact) and it’s called the Bible.
I saw what you did there, the Bible has more than 66 books.

Sorry to hear that your Grandmother has developed Alzheimer’s Disease. My father has this too and can be sad at times.

I was just wondering why you are wanting to buy a book for your grandmother on Heaven. Has she asked for you to buy her a book about Heaven or has she been fearful about Alzheimer’s as a terminal disease?

I know that if I gave my Dad a book on Heaven when he was first diagnosed he would have said “I am not dying yet.” He would have been really upset.

Try to get her to TLM especially if she is dependent on transport assistance.
