Anyone know of any good books on the Mass? I have The Lambs Supper, and heard the the book Mass Confusion was good. Any suggestions? I’m looking to know more about the structure of the mass but I’m also wondering if its worth it in a sense to wait until the new roman missal comes out since that seems to be a major change?

I don’t know about the Novus Ordo, but a good book for the Traditional Latin Mass is the book “The Mass” by Fr. Dunney.

Lamb’s Supper is the best for my money. If you have fully absorbed that book, I don’t know that you could do much better

I think Father Pacwa wrote one, but I forget the name

I have a three-volume series (the first is already out, the second is coming out in January, and the third will be out this summer) on the Mass, highlighting the changes in the new translation. The books are about the structure of the Mass, its prayers, postures, gestures, etc. I think a few of the forum members here have read it; if one of them is reading this thread, I invite him or her to comment.

I’ve read The Lamb’s Supper and The How-to Book of the Mass, among others. Very good; I’ve used them as resources in my own books.

I’ll vote for japhy’s book as a good one. It does a good job of breaking everything down into manageable bits and explaining them. It is especially helpful as we learn about the new translation.

My other recommendation is If Your Mind Wanders at Mass by Thomas Howard. It focuses more on the beauty of the mass and the amazing things that are happening. And he is just an amazing writer in general!

I really liked “What Happens at Mass” by Fr. Jeremy Driscoll, who also was involved with the new translation.
