Hmmm. Not thrash, but you may like P.O.D. I think they’re very good.

Good ones are a little tough to come by. Sadly, most that I’ve heard are pale imitations of the good secular bands.

It’s Hard enough to find trash/speed metal bands that aren’t goofily anti-christian. The best thing to do would be to find an album that has no reference to anything faith based, or is too silly to take seriously. The whole scary evil monster 12" spiked codpeice gimmick didn’t start right away. It was hard for me playing in Punk/Thrash metally kind of bands for 9 years and then becoming interested in catholicism. My last band wrote horrid songs and I called it quits. It was hard to reconcile my convictions with those of my bandmates in our music. In my opinion, an overall attitude exactly opposite that of christianity has taken over harder music. People scoff at a metal band singing about Jesus, but the devil is ok? It’s silly to me now. Anyways, a non-fast but really heavy band would be High on Fire. At least the singer is a christian, but their songs are more mystical. They also sing about yetis. I should know more but i can’t think right now. I think lots of christian bands try to be preachers on stage and it doesn’t work so well. There needs to be a serious revamping.

I am in Seven Sorrowsa Catholic band, we play a wide variety and have a hardcore song called vengeance.

I was also in a Christian hardcore band called disarm.

You can download all that stuff for free at www.sevensorrows.com/music.html

and tell us what you think.

The wife and I both like Vengeance 👍

I think that someone needs to hang a new moniker on this form of music. It seems rather tainted to me. The only reason I even came to this thread was because I have been a musician in my younger years and also because this is a Catholic site.

Our language needs a Vatican ll upgrade.

I’m always looking for good Christian metal bands. Most don’t cut if for me because the lyrics end up being pretty cheesy. My current favorite band is Theocracy. It’s not speed/thrash, but they describe themselves as “epic Metal with occasional progressive tendencies” - I hear in them bits of Dream Theater/Iron Maiden/Metallica/Helloween. Here’s my thread about them (with links and such):

Eternal Decision is fantastic! I really like them…

God bless you abundantly,

THE SHOWDOWN

thats all you need to know, listen to it and be amazed.

the first cd ( a chorus of Obliteration) is the one to listen to. But I must warn you, I hope you can handle it. Its heavy. As heavy as they come. Trust me, they are the best out there. The second cd is ok, not nearly as good as the first.

Do yourself a favor and read through the lyrics too, most of them are telling biblical stories, its amazing stuff.

Their song “Dagon Undone” is the single best song I have ever heard in my life.

Katholicus is a hard rock Catholic band.
As for Protestant groups of the metal genre, well if you like the 1980s metal/glam rock sound, there are Stryper, Holy Soldier, Guardian, Idle Cure, Tourniquet, Mastedon, HALO, Petra, X-Sinner, Resurrection Band, White Heart, Whitecross, Bride, Degarmo & Key, Mylon (Lefevre) & Brokenheart, Jamie Rowe(lead singer of Guardian), and Michael Sweet(lead singer of Stryper.)

For the modern thrash sound, Extol and Living Sacrifice would be my recommendations.

For the modern heavy distorted screamo sound you can try Project 86, Staple, or Disciple.

For a heavy punk sound, One Bad Pig.
