When you see and hear, chemical and structural changes are made in your brain. The actual wiring of your brain is altered in order to form a memory of what you are seeing and hearing.

Why would I want to subject my brain, and to be altered physically by such horrific images?

Sure, the movie is not real, but why would I want such horrific stuff to be physically present in me? I mean, real life is bad enough 🙂
garbage in, garbage out

John Carpentar’s *The Thing. *Awesome flick. Both psychologocal and gory.

I like “Signs” and the Sixth Since" or “The Ohters” and “Secret Window”. if you can call those horror films…

What about some of Terry Fisher’s Hammer horror films, like Drakula, with Peter Cushing and such?

I can’t say I enjoy movies with pretty girls being hacked up…pretty sick if you ask me.
Normally, it is the good, intelligent wholesome girl who kicks monster butt in the movies. If you are a guy who is not being exceptionally nice to this girl, according to the horror movie rules then you will die some horrible death. s

The best horror movie I’ve ever seen was the 1963 version of “The Haunting of Hill House”…
!
Absolutely. That is on my list of movies I can watch over and over. On Halloween I always watch it while giving out treats.
The Horror genre seems to have degraded into formula slasher-gore-drenched-in-your-face insanity. I am not interested for the most part. I do however seem to gravitate to movies like Se7en, The Sixth Sense, and The Skelton Key.
But what I truly prefer are the stories of Conrad (Heart of Darkness), Poe (Pick your favorite), Blackwood (The Willows), Bradbury (The Illustrated Man) and others for my forays into the mysterious.
If you haven’t seen it I posted Rules to Survive a Horror Movie elsewhere on this forum.

I…LOVE…HORROR…MOVIES 👍

From:

Slasher to psychological to supernatural to exploitation…but they have to contain good acting and a plot that doesnt allow for a mack truck to drive thru it…granted ya gotta supsend a certain level of disblief to get into many of them, but I dont wanna have to swallow peyote and lsd for it to make sense either… 😃

I love American Psycho and From Hell…one of the best slashers ever for me. I aint a fan of Friday 13th stuff.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Haute Tension
Hills Have Eyes (Remake)
Devils Rejects
House of 1000 Corpses
Wrong Turn
Dawn of the Dead (remake)
Shaun of the Dead (comedy/horror)
Land of the Dead
28 Days Later
Hostel
Bram Stokers Dracula…Lugosis Dracula
Frankenstein…Bride of Frankstein
Nightmare on Elm Street (original only)
Constantine
Silence of the Lambs and its sequels
Night of the Living Dead (original)

Plus a bunch more…the upcoming SLITHER and Silent Hill look awesome!

I also like psychological stuff such as…

Frailty
Session 9
The Others
Sixth Sense
