Any ideas on activities to do with twin 12 month old girls?

We play in the house.
We go on walks.
I take them on visits to friends and family.

Any ideas of what else we can go do?
I was hoping to find something that they would like, that I would like, and that maybe would also help out someone somewhere?

I was trying to think of some activity that would help the church, or some people somewhere that I could ALSO bring the kids along.

I thought about volunteering at our church to help with the gardening, but it’s winter now, so there’s really not any gardening to do,
I thought about taking the girls with me to a nursing home to pray the rosary, (the little old ladies go CRAZY for the babies! And the babies go crazy right back!) but they are terribly distracting so it would be like ‘Hail Mary, hey, get that out of your mouth!’ See? No good.

Now that it’s 40 days for life, I walk with them in front of the abortion clinic and pray the rosary, but still, for them, that’s just like going on another walk.

Ideas anyone?

Check your local library for Mother Goose type programs that do stories and songs for tots.

Check your local YMCA for programs for tots- some might even be free.

In Canada we have a government run program called “The Early Years” where you can take your kids to a big playroom and play whenever you want. They run all sorts of free programs, too.

They are still very young to be doing service oriented stuff. The 40 Days for Life thing sounds like your best bet. Trust me, before you know it they will be 4 or 5 and more than ready to help!

Right now, we need someone to volunteer to babysit during RCIA. We welcome kids to come with mom and dad, there are infants and little kids. By about age 2/3, they get bored sitting there “listening” for an hour and a half. It would be great if one of the side rooms could be a playroom for kids - and you could bring your kids too!!!

Maybe call the person who does RCIA and see if it is a need at your Parish 🙂

Visit the zoo or (for free) the pet store. At that age they just have a blast.

As a twin myself my Mom used to take my sister and me to the mall when we were babies during the day which happened to have a playground indoors (this also may be a good place for during the winter when it is too cold). They also tend to be a bit more toddler friendly with soft padding and there are usually younger children there if it is during the day as opposed to an outdoor playground with older kids. I’d only suggest this if you have the will power not to buy anything! 😉

I think the idea of the nursing home is a great place to go! We used to go till we were 3 years old to visit my great-grandmother in the nursing home and the other residents loved it as well. Some residents never get visitors so it can be a very lonely place. Only problem my Mom ran into was everyone wanted to hold us, which if your children do not have strong immune systems might be an issue. But we didn’t cry all that much so we enjoyed being passed from person to person my Mom said. Maybe during the rosary find an activity they can play with so they’re not trying to grab at the rosary or bring a friend with you so if they do get distracting the rosary can continue with disruption?

Congratulations on your girls what a gift! 🙂

I’m afraid I have no suggestions. Since I’m single with no kids and my only experience is babysitting nieces and nephews, the fact that anyone gets out of the house with only one child blows my mind much less two 😃
