So, last night I watched the movie Bernadette. I’d say she meets my requirements.
She was lay and from a poor family. Thus she worked to help support it. Yes she was young, but I think she still fits. Although she entered a convent I don’t think she had much of a choice. After her visions were approved by the church she would have been relentlessly hounded by the public if she had not entered a convent. I also think she would have still become a saint ever if she had remained lay.
