Yes, I’m Catholic, and always will be. I was a bit angry at God a few days ago, so I removed it 😊. Things are better now.
but you were still here on our catholic web site 😉 Good to see you’re back home completely to our catholic faith :hug3:

Hello fellow Muslims,

I want to read the Quran. I’m doing so because I believe it’s intellectually beneficial to understand the faith of some 1.57 billion people across the world.

So, where do I begin? Preferably I would want to read the Quran in online than having it in physical format. I would also prefer the Quran to be in English rather than having to learn Arabic.

Thanks for all the help 🙂
The link that jakasaki provided is indeed good and informative and I would also say that it is very much better if one listens to the Qur’an being recited in Arabic while simultaneously reading the translated text.

Think of the Qur’an as the map to guide us through the journey of life and think of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as the legend by which to correctly read this map.

Just as it would be foolish for us to try to read a map without referring to the accompanying legend, then only a fool would try to interpret the Qur’an in a way which is different than how the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself understood the Qur’an.

And for this purpose, I would suggest that you read the 40-ahadith collection of Imam Nawawi, which really is a comprehensive crash course in learning about the major teachings of Islam.

And indeed, once you have learned and understood this very well-known collection of ahadith (plural of hadith), then I would dare say that your knowledge and understanding of the true teachings of Islam might well be at a higher level than that of most Muslims in the world.

Why Hamba… thank you…🙂

I always use the site searchtruth.com to read the koran and ahadiths as well as all of the tafsirs…

I’m also going to bookmark your link to the 40 ahadith collection.

Peace and blessings,
I agree with the posters here that speak of the order being important.
My first read was in the order accepted today with the narrations.

My advice for what it is worth is to read it in the revelation order with no narrations or commentaries then look to the suhnah by reading the hadiths that were collected and written some 15 generations or so after Mohamed (pbuh) died.
How accurate they are would have to be questionable in some parts considering of the 73 sects Islam is to divide into only one will be saved from the fire.
If the hadiths were collected evenly from the 73 sects less than two out of 100 would be offered by trust worthy people, given they are some 15 generations on they may make unintentional error.

Always remember when reading the Quran or other text attributed to G-d
“seek and you will find”
So before you read pray about seeking G-ds goodness there in, if you are to seek how wrong it is, unless your opinion will have a great effect on many it may do you well to skip reading it and focus on doing good deeds.

Peace and blessings to you and yours

I didn’t mean “begin” as in where do I begin to read, but rather, what do I have to keep in mind before reading the Quran. Besides, the Quran is not in chronological order like the Bible, if I’m not mistaken.
I am a Muslim.

While reading Quran; it is good if one could recite the Quran in Arabic , say one wants to read a passage from Quran, first one should recite the passage in Arabic, if one can, and then one should reads the Quran translation of the passage in English or anyother language; so on and so forth.

The context of a verse is very important for understanding Quran. If one does not understand a verse, one should read the verses in the context; some preceding and some following; the meaning will be clear.

**Your intention is not to read Quran or learn about islam, if you are interested to do so you will ask this question in some islamic websites. You know that this is a catholic website . Your actual intention is to create an irritation among christians. There are lot of persons today like you who claims to be ex christians. They are not telling that they are muslims , budhists ,athiests or hindus. They use to reffer themselves as Ex christians or Ex devoted catholics. We christians should be vigilant about such persons and should realise their real intentions. They want to destroy faith of those who remains faithful to Jesus.

Quran’s is very natural in its order of the chapters; it does not have to be in the Chronological order. Quran is not a book of history; it is a book of guidance to the humanity in matters ethical, moral and spiritual; so it started with a prayer; how one should start one’s spiritual journey with seeking help from the Creator God; and it is a nice approach.

Bohm Bawerk was most assuredly a serious Christian. The Bible itself says that one can be a true Christian and lose one’s faith. I really don’t think his intentions are anything other than what he said.

The Books of the Bible have not been arranged in chronological order by the Creator God; but later by the human beings; so Bible does not have a natural order; Bible has an artificial order rather tha the natural order.

Text is too big. And no, I am not a “spy”. There is a reason I asked this in the “Non-Catholic” forum. If the moderator had trouble with it, he/she would have taken it down.

The reason I didn’t ask this in a Muslim forum is because all of their interfaces are really difficult to follow. CAF’s interface isn’t perfect, but it’s preferable to what I’ve seen on Muslim sites (or that may just be because I’ve been using CAF for over a year).

Anyway - take care.

“Any Muslims here? I want to read the Quran. Where do I begin?”

In my experience, it is always better to begin at the beginning of a book.👍

AsSalum o Aliekum
Eid Mubarak

Most of the books of the bible seem to me to follow chronological order but for those that cover the same stories.

Could you give us list of those books that are in the wrong order? i assume your use of “natural” is the same as chronological.

May Allah bless and guide you and yours
