I think
Werewolf had to be my all-time fave…every time they’d have a shot of the werewolf’s open skull, Kevin Murphy would sing a falsetto A-sharp, and I’d just about die. And the comment made by the workman as he was metamorposing into a werewolf, holding onto the bed frame…I can’t repeat it here, but I almost went into convulsions of laughter with that one.
Alien From L.A. and
The Mole People were pretty good, too; and so was
The Giant Spider Invasion, as well as
The Horrors of Spider Island.
Some were better than others, but all of them had at least one or two lines that were real zingers.
Space Mutiny, where they bring in the captive, and the ship’s commander says, “Is this the man?”, and Mike says, “Why no, sir—you da man.”
Alien From L.A., where Kathy Ireland squeaks something in her high-pitched voice, and both bots and Mike all yell “Shut up!”
Agent From H.A.R.M., where the secret agent gives the girl an arrogant smile as he leaves the room, and Servo says, “Watch me open the
hell out of this door!”
I miss it. Of course, I like Joe-Bob Briggs and the Crypt-Keeper, too, depending on the movie. A local guy they used to have up in Traverse City, Michigan fifteen to twenty years ago was Count Zappula; he was pretty good too; every Saturday I’d watch “the Zap”. But I’ll admit that MST3K was the only one to elevate it to an art form.
