Just wondering if there are any Mystery Science Theater fans out there? I think the show is great, and most people I talk to either love it or hate it. For those of you who are fans, what is your favorite episode?? Also, are you a Mike fan, or a Joel fan??

YES!!! MANY HUGS!!!

I was waiting for somebody to post this thread/ask this question!!! 😃 😃 😃

I LOVE that show, so much!!!

I first came into contact with it when it would be played one hour every Friday on some local station here (regular, not cable). When my parent’s got satellite, that’s when the transition was from Comedy Central & Joel to Sci-Fi & Mike. I like both of them equally but for different reasons.

My favourite one, incedentally, (all Mikes) is “Jack Frost” – the one in Russian, you know? Close second, “Future War”. Third: DEFINATELY, “Squirm”. 😃

Chicago-land, hmmm, poor Svengoolie, languishing and unwatched! He had a great one on the other night with shrunken astronauts. I was already singing, “We represent the lollipop guild” when Svengoolie started in with it!

I thought the movie (mystery science theater 3000) was great, btw!

Hmmm…:hmmm: Funny you should mention Sven. About to watch this week’s episode, “Head of the Family” now. Yeah, I saw that one, as well. I’ve had my art and name depicted on that show a few years ago. 🙂

Jack Frost was one of my favorites!!! It was so funny. I found out that Jack Frost is a children’s classic over in Russia, much like The Wizard of Oz is a classic here in America. I read somewhere that Russians were surprised that MST chose such a popular and well-loved movie to make fun of. I only saw that one once, but now some of the MST episodes are coming out on DVD, and I’m hoping that one is released.
My personal favorite is The Giant Spider Invasion. Has anyone seen that one?

Was that the one in black & white or the one with William Shatner? It sounds familiar, but, all bad movies typically do…

The entire MST concept is essentialy a direct rip off of what Rick Koz did as Son of Svengoolie and has returned to in recent years. Rich just does it better, but is not well known these day, outside Chicago. Back when he was on WFLD, his show was actually syndicated to other markets with Marshall Field’s owned stations.

Can I get a rubber chicken thrown at me, please!

Although I found myself rolling on the floor watching MST (I especially like the digs against Renaissence fairs, Yes, and Andrew Lloyd Webber) I hard a hard time getting past the fact that I was still watching a bad movie. Does anyone remember when MST did a half-hour bust on the Oscar nominees? (The year of Titanic, Mrs. Brown, etc.?) I thought that was hysterical and made me realize I would rather watch them bust on bad but critically acclaimed movies. (Of course that would wreck the premise, but ohh well.)

After the show went away, the MST crew also did an Internet spoof of the Lord of the Rings which was only mildly amusing. (They really seemed to have lost their edge toward the end.)

I LOVED Giant Spider Invasion. That was one of my favorites! I taped a whole bunch of the episodes when they were showing on Sci-Fi. Anytime I need a good laugh, I’ll watch one of them. Servo has to be my favorite character.

I think Werewolf had to be my all-time fave…every time they’d have a shot of the werewolf’s open skull, Kevin Murphy would sing a falsetto A-sharp, and I’d just about die. And the comment made by the workman as he was metamorposing into a werewolf, holding onto the bed frame…I can’t repeat it here, but I almost went into convulsions of laughter with that one.

Alien From L.A. and The Mole People were pretty good, too; and so was The Giant Spider Invasion, as well as The Horrors of Spider Island.

Some were better than others, but all of them had at least one or two lines that were real zingers. 🙂

Space Mutiny, where they bring in the captive, and the ship’s commander says, “Is this the man?”, and Mike says, “Why no, sir—you da man.”

Alien From L.A., where Kathy Ireland squeaks something in her high-pitched voice, and both bots and Mike all yell “Shut up!”

Agent From H.A.R.M., where the secret agent gives the girl an arrogant smile as he leaves the room, and Servo says, “Watch me open the hell out of this door!”

I miss it. Of course, I like Joe-Bob Briggs and the Crypt-Keeper, too, depending on the movie. A local guy they used to have up in Traverse City, Michigan fifteen to twenty years ago was Count Zappula; he was pretty good too; every Saturday I’d watch “the Zap”. But I’ll admit that MST3K was the only one to elevate it to an art form.

My brother and I loved MST3K. We ate our dinner on Saturday nights while we tuned in.

Our favorites were the Spider Invasion, the Swamp Monster (killed by Sodium!), and that dorky Russian movie ("Someday I’ll be a boy . . . ). Also their jokes during the opening credits of “A Touch of S _ _ _n” were hilarious, but the movie was ****.

My brother and I were Mike fans.

Oh, yeah—“A touch of Satan…softens your hands as you do dishes!” 😛

MST3K was the only show I ever laughed out loud, alone, to. I miss it. Can’t get it here where I am.

To this day I can’t see Mitchum deodorant w/o thinking of “A Touch of Satan” where the old man is all sweaty and one of them says “Mitchum, so effective you can skip a week.”

:rotfl:“A Touch of Satan”…they barely had to make fun of that one. Example: “This is where the fish live.”

My favorites, off the top of my head:
“Mitchell” (is that a beer?)
“The Brain that Wouldn’t Die”
“Space Mutiny”
“Cave Dwellers”
“Track of the Moon Beast”

Are there reruns of the show anywhere. I loved it, but I can’t quote lines from it like you guys.

I forgot about that scene!! How about, to the tune of Amazing Grace, “this song is in the public domain, that’s why we used it twice.”

BIG fan here.
Both Joel and Mike were cool. Mike was one of the show’s writers when Joel was host, so the humor didn’t change much between the two.

Favorite episode: The Creeping Terror

Some are out on DVD, but they’re pretty expensive. Those that haven’t been officially released you can often find on ebay or something.

Yes, they are outrageously overpriced. I hope someone will offer a reasonably priced complete collection.
