I’ve been reading the works of John Henry Cardinal Newman and I can’t believe what keen insight he had in all matters of faith, but especially with regard to the Catholic Church. Just wondering if there’s anyone else out there who has read his works and feels the same. Also, does anyone know if any of his works have been published in book form, and if so, where they can be purchased from? Thank you.

In Christ,
Joe

:tiphat: Well thank you kindly; as an Englishman I will take that as a compliment. Newman was indeed a great thinker and apologist for the faith.
His works are all still in print, plus his poetry and two volumes of collected letters. There is also the Newman Society which exists to discuss and disseminate his theological ideas today.

This weekend I will be going to Maryvale House, Birmingham which was once Newman’s presbetry. It is still a centre of Catholic Theology, catechetics and study and his spirit is felt strongly. The house has a chapel of the Sacred Heart, the first ever in England, which Newman encouraged and supported.

More than glad to take some petitions for the Sacred Heart chapel if you want to send me via the private message service.

I am taking some exams in catholic theology on Saturday and then staying for a week for some lectures. Please pray for me. 👍

I haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading Newman except for a few quotes of his here and there, but I feel indebted to him because a Newman Center has had a very positive influence on me and on many people I know. I can’t help but think part of the success of that Newman Center is due to Newman’s intercession.

I bought a book of his sermons and prayers. It is excellent. Everyday after reading my bible I pick this book up and read one of his sermons. Your right, his insight is incredible. My absolute favorite sermon was on why everyone doesn’t go to heaven.

I don’t know a single former Anglican who was not deeply affected by Newman’s Apologia pro Vita Sua. We all believe we’re on this side of the Tiber because he has been interceding for us.

Many of his books are in print. Try Barnes and Noble, Ignatius Press and Amazon. A good on line resource is here:
