Has anyone heard of the pro-homosexual group called “Soul Force”? Apparently, they are on a national tour going to religious schools that do not allow homosexual student-run groups on campus. I read that they showed up at Notre Dame last week, and six were arrested for trespassing. They were trying to deliver 3 wreaths to Notre Dame’s Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, when they were arrested by campus police. Two students of the university joined their crusade and received summons by the administration. The story states that the two students may be suspended.

Apparently, this is a radical group which is trying to lead college students away from their respective Church’s teaching with regard to the homosexual lifestyle. Be prepared Franciscan U! They may be on their way over to Ohio! :nope:

Seriously though, I have no idea if they are headed to Ohio, but the story reads that they are headed to Wisconsin-Lutheran University after Notre Dame and also Oklahoma Baptist University. I’m not sure what other Catholic schools are on their tour. However, I would be prepared for their arrival if you are on any non-secular campus.

Below are links to the stories of their arrests in South Bend:

Quoting Jacob Reitan, co-director of Equality Ride (the Soulforce bus tour)
“I think some people mistake our deep convictions with a desire to create chaos. Our goal was not to mess with these schools. It was to break bread together and have genuine conversations,” explained Reitan, who was arrested numerous times during the tour for acts of civil disobedience at schools where riders were denied access. At Falwell’s Liberty University, for example, riders were welcomed off-campus by a handful of students but maintained that attempting to enter school property in front of law enforcement and assembled media was a symbolic action worth the risk. Similar nonviolent direct actions took place wherever riders were not officially welcomed.

Franciscan University is not on the tour (at least this year).
East bus route
West bus route

After looking at the East and West bus tours, it looks like Notre Dame is the only Catholic school on the list. It’s probably because the Princeton Review ranked Notre Dame #1 in the nation (again) this year for “alternative lifestyles, not an alternative”. In other words, it’s apparently the most “gay-unfriendly” university in the nation. Now, that is just stupid! Why is this even a category?! What ever happened to categories like, “best Chemistry program” or “best Accounting program”!!! I just think it is absurd that the Princeton Review even makes these judgements! They make ND look like a bunch of judgemental “gay-haters”. Most Catholic universities keep the teaching, “love the sinner…hate the sin!”. I doubt that there is a Catholic school in this nation without counseling services that would have pastoral care and concern for any student in that situation (homosexual tendancies that is). Oh well, I guess the Princeton Review has nothing better to do with their time.
