Any Orthodox here?

Eons ago (before I was on CAF) there was simply the “Eastern Christian” subforum…then apparently there was a lot of drama which resulted in several members being banned as well as a huge exodus.
 
Sounds like a perfect illustration of Christian Internet discipleship, as it exists in reality. 😇
 
Also Orthodox here! Convert from Protestantism but definitely learned a lot about Catholicism (Jesuit college and mentor) before I went Orthodox.
 
That would be awesome, as their are really no alternatives that are good elsewhere.
But as this is a Catholic site educating people about Catholicism probably not likely they would
want to do that.
 
Maybe if there was enough interest the @mods (how do you get their attention?) might make one.
 
Well as many people have said the East and the West are two lungs of the one church. It would be nice if we could breathe with both here.
 
I’d like an alternative to what else is out there forum-wise (although I’m not Orthodox…yet ) but as I said I do realize this is a Catholic Educational site so it might not go over here and I do understand if it doesn’t. Ancient Faith ministries is good but they have no forum.

Don’t worry brother !! It’s really insightful for Catholics to learn about the Orthodox faith! Feel free to share! I have some Areminan orthodox friends so we always talk about the similarities and differences among our faith me being Catholic
 
Please do share even though it’s a catholic website it’s a way to expand inter religious dialogue! Our own council Vatican 2 conveyed this need
 
I was raised charismatic/fundamentalist/nondenominational Baptist, then converted to Anglicanism in college for two and half years (ACNA), then finally converted to Orthodoxy after feeling the presence of God in the nave of an Orthodox Church I was visiting with my Anglican priest.

Eastern Catholic is not the same as Eastern Orthodox or Oriental Orthodox. Do Eastern Orthodox issues belong in the Eastern Catholic forum or in the non-Catholic forum?

Some years back the Orthodox had a sub-forum here - Many Eastern Catholics participated… The problem was that a lot of them were converting to the EOC, and CAF is decidedly (and rightfully I might add…) N.O.T. in existence to persuade Eastern Catholics to become members of the EOC!! The forum was removed, never to be seen again, and its Orthodox members were banned from any further participation on this website… The mod for that forum was fired, and later became Orthodox, as I understand matters…

The Orthodox had been walking a thin line of proselytizing Eastern Catholics by simply establishing historical evidence politely and carefully without encouraging and even gently discouraging conversion, all the while watching the conversions occurring… I firmly believe that it was the actions of some of the Orthodox who were less careful and more confrontative that precipitated the CAF excision of that forum and its members…

The Eastern Catholic forum has abundantly shown the level of EC sympathies with the EOC understanding, seeing themselves in this sympathy as the building of a bridge from Rome to the EOC and vice versa… Even as themselves being that bridge…

And at this point, I should probably add that I am one of those who were banned back then, and have rejoined and mended my miscreantic ways of posting and become much more conciliatory… The early forum was much wilder than it is now, and verbal fights were much less checked and more vicious…

I did encounter one of the larger ‘players’ in CAF in the course of my professional life, and we totally hit it off, love each other, and after all that learned of our CAF roles in the severance, and set out from there to make things better - She is a wonderful Christian in my book…

I guess I was not aware of that. Well, sounds like an Orthodox sub forum would definitely not be a good idea under those conditions.
 
Yikes. I almost wonder if this thread should be deleted, as the OP. Unless we can keep it away from that.
I do realize this is a Catholic forum.
 
It could get pretty wild… And on all other forums except the EOC’s, the mods would only involve sanctions on the EOC posters while permitting the RCC posters a free hand to do much worse… And the EOC in those days were not permitted to say that they are the Catholic Church, which wrankled a fair number of us, because we do regard our Communion of Churches as the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church… In those days, only Rome could call Herself Catholic on this forum… And there were a lot of bullies used to getting away with their antics, and encountering EOC posters, they found there was not much give us, that we stood our ground and returned fire with accuracy…

But then, the Admin was seeking our correction, and nowadays, they more seek our reconciliation… So it was a good time then for them to find out where the fat ended and the steel abode… And we have, I should hope, all grown from there…

So now, when I post, I bear witness to our Communion by my deeds as a poster committed to being as usefully helpful as I can find a way to be, and leave the reunion of the two Churches to those above my pay grade…

byzcath.org is fundamentally Eastern, rather than EC or EO, notwithstanding its name.
