Usually when there is a Papal Mass, the booklet for the celebration is uploaded to the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff’s website a few days or weeks in advance. The website is here: vatican.va/news_services/liturgy/

Does anyone else download these things and look through them before the Masses happen? I love doing that, seeing what is being done for each event, seeing what Mons. Marini does for each Mass. It’s always exciting to see the wonderful chant pieces. Probably the most exciting things for me are seeing Greek (as in when a Mass features the traditional Greek deacon) and seeing a “Te igitur…” snuck in there.

Then I watch the Masses themselves and see how Mons. Marini has the Pope vested, which is always exciting as well. IMO, the Pope’s vestments don’t always work out (like the Easter Vigil this year…), but they usually do.

Does anyone else do nerdy stuff like this?

Perhaps if I ever become a priest I shall attempt to specialize in liturgy… oh my.

I sometimes read those things if they’re linked from someplace else for some particular reason. I might suggest, if you do not already read this thread from another board, you might want to bookmark it if you are a papal liturgy nerd. 🙂

I have had that tab open for the past year! I have read every single page of that thread. Benodette is an extremely valuable resource! I love her pallium, throne and mitre height antics. A certain… aura… envelops the thread for a few posts after she posts pictures of the Pope in a Roman chasuble, lol. She still hasn’t forgiven Mons. Marini for the pallium change and it looks like she never will. What a truly excellent thread, yes!

Are you on the forum? I have not created an account.

No, I would have nothing nothing to contribute that wouldn’t be far below the level of the ubernerds there! “Oh yes, the pattern of the lace on that alb immediately reminded of the one he wore at vespers on the 19th Sunday of Ordinary Time in 2009. I guess Giuseppe must be back in the workshop …”
