Does anyone work as a pastoral associate or a youth minister? I am considering applying for one of these jobs and was wondering what the daily/weekly schedule is like.

Similar to a priest’s. Lots of meetings, events, etc. in addition to office hours. More than 40 hours per week.

Best job in terms of satisfaction,
Must be able to juggle to many different types of personalities.
You must remember you are the “invitation” and stand for the Church in many instances.
You cannot lose your cool, you must be gracious, yet firm.
You must be kind to all families who may not fully understand the reasoning behind some church polices or pastoral decisions.
Be prepared to work many hours with no extra compensation.
Be sure not to neglect your family or spouse.
Be prepared to be the last one at church almost every night locking up.
Be prepared to get blamed for a lot of stuff. Seriously.
Be prepared to never ever make very much money, but you’ll have a career that is rewarding in many other ways.
Pray for a job with a good budget for materials and activities.
Pray for patience.
Pray for the children and families…constantly.
Rejoice in your sharing of the faith.
Rejoice in the excitement of families as their children receive their sacraments.
Rejoice when students come up and thank you for a particular lesson you have presented.
Make sure you have good health coverage.
I spent 30 of the last 48 hours at church. My knees are about shot.
Exhaustion is real.
Take care of yourself.
I love my job, but I will tell you, it’s very hard.
fun, oodles of fun, but hard.
