I have more to say but my lunch break is over. The next tenants I have issue with is the Second Baptism in the Holy Spirit though Holiness (as a requirement before) and only then are you enabled for service. More to come.

I left the CC at 17 and later became a bible believer and increasingly against the teachings of the CC. Years later I entered a Pentecostal Church because I was impressed by the fact that they seemed unashamed of their faith and also by their openness to the Spirit.I spoke in tongues, but never quit seeking or thinking and I began to see the validity of the CC by studying history and also by seeing the error of the sola scriptura position. I also began to doubt the genuineness of what I saw at Pentecostal churches and later, thru a series of circumstances and much to my own surprise, I reentered the CC, attending charismatic meetings until I came to believe that what I was witnessing there or at least what I, personally, was doing was “of the flesh” and I renounced it.

The second baptism by the Holy Spirit is a key point of doctine for the Pentecostals. To what end is this?:
• Baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to cleansing; the enduement of power for service

In order to be ready for service this happens not at conversion but subsequent to “baptism by the Holy Spirit” which is only attained after attained holiness (Thus the Holiness movement). In other words Salvation isn’t really complete to result in fruit and good works until the second baptism which comes after a holy lifestyle. I believe its a little cart before the horse going on here. They will not say that salvation is not complete but in order for a second baptism with “fire” to occur it has to follow. So salvation by grace and after santification for second baptism to enable for service. My belief is that Salvation is complete including all that the Holy Spirit has to give including the ability to overcome sin and have a righteous life style. However their empowerment for service and ministry will not occur before the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
The only way for them to determine that you have this second baptism isn’t by your lifestyle or holy living or how you love but:
• The speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance as the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.

And believe me at Lee there was a big debate over the use of Ghost or Spirit. So you are unable to perform ministry until the second baptism which doesn’t occur until after you’ve become Holy enough for God. I say grace comes first and the rest follows. In other words when you believe you are able to live obediently through the already in working of the Holy Spirit. And you can judge these matters by your “love for one another” and the “good works” that you perform in accordance with James. If you don’t speak in tongues some will even suggest you’re not saved. They have their pet verses for this too. Matthew 3:11; Luke 24:49, 53; Acts 1:4-8. and John 15:26; Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:1-7.
Next time I’ll hit on their beliefs on the specifics of the working of the Holy Spirit, other doctrine of consern:
• Premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the dead saints and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air
. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years
