You can interpret if you have the gift of interpretation.

I don’t think Calvary Chapel or word of faith teaching really differs on this point. You can demonstrate tongues by opening your mouth and allowing the tongue to move. The person demonstrating doesn’t know what they are saying–unless they also have the gift of interpretation.

For example, I speak in tongues, but I’ve never interpreted. I could demonstrate tongues to you at any time by simply speaking, but I would not be able to “demonstrate” interpretation to you because I don’t have that gift. You would need either 1 person with both gifts or 2 people with the different gifts.

The Calvary Chapel teacher is misinformed. It is a spiritual gift, and it is not created by human wisdom, or interpreted by human knowledge. The interpretation comes from the Holy Spirit.

The “mind is unfruitful” just means that the prayer originates in the Spirit, not the reason.
 
So what about people who really cannot attend charismatic prayer meetings but hope to grow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Just receive the gifts by faith and prayer?
 
Generally we don’t ask to grow in the gifts. They are given as the Spirit gives.

Our growth should be in the love of the Lord, grow in love and holiness and ongoing repentance.

The gifts are given to serve the body (people of God). It is up to the Spirit to gives. Neither do we should reject these gifts if we are given them. Using them to serve is a great responsibility for the glory of God.
 
Yes, they were told to make the Roman Catholic church’s novena to the Holy spirit each say,
To read the New Testament book Acts of the Apostles,

To read the book: ‘And they spoke in other tongues’ (by John Sherrill) (amazing book)
To read the book: ‘The cross and the switchblade’ by David Wilkerson (which is also a movie),
Both these books are on amazon.com for paperback purchase or ebook download onto the kindle app,

I have read both books and they are AMAZING.

And they prayed the prayers of renewal of Baptismal / Confirmation promises,

After this: prayer before the Blessed Sacrament,

I would recommend all catholics to do the above…!!!

Read any book by Patti Gallagher, or Dave Mangan’s book ‘God loves you and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it’ (available on amazon.com as paperback purchase or ebook download) all about their own experience of that weekend retreat to the Holy Spirit that began the Vatican approved Catholic Charismatic Renewal 50 years ago.

I notice now that when I pray in the Holy Spirit with tongues, it really fills me with Gods presence. If only everybody could experience this.
 
The Vatican II Doctrinal Commission into the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (see ‘resources’ on their ICCR website) have stated: yes it is biblical that all christians can ask God for tongues and the charisms of the Holy Spirit (but make sure it is desired for love of God, and to bring God to others). The entire early christian church manifested the charisms of the Holy Spirit. And Jesus promised those signs would accompany all believers, Pentecost wasn’t just yesterday, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal / Vatican II/ Catholic Catechism / Bible, have stated Pentecost as experienced by the Apostles, is for ALL believers right now.

They are catholic charismatics who have the approval of their Head Abbott/ Mother Superior/ spiritual director priest/ bishop/ Pope, and who exercise the charisms of healing/ deliverance/ tongues/ miracles/ prophecy/ words of knowledge/ words of wisdom/ etc

How to know if they have Roman Catholic Vatican approval?
Does their priest/ bishop/ Religious superior (eg: Mother Abbess, Or Brother abbott)/ Vatican/ Pope approve their charisms are from God:

A true saint is not a self proclaimed prophet, but submits his charisms to his priest spiritual director, and if needed, his religious superior/ bishop,

Because: ‘satan masquerades as an angel of light.’
The church says discernment is not made by oneself, but with the church.
 
Ahh, very true. We see many self proclaimed prophets amongst the Pentecostal world.

That’s what drew me back to the Catholic Church, its authority given by God, passed through St. Peter. I’m learning though brother how it fully works.

As the bible says of obedience to your spiritual director, or other church superiors:

‘For Christ cannot contradict Himself.’
