Any Personal Stories of a Saint's Intercession in Your Life?

Do you have a story you would like to share about when you asked for a saint’s intercession and obtained that favor or something unusual happened?

Sometimes I feel like I pray to a saint for this and that, but it seems often to go unheard. I’m not saying it is not heard, just that sometimes it seems that way. Maybe I don’t see their intercession, in spite of it being there, or I ask for the wrong things, etc. So any encouraging stories by members?

When I was contemplating whether or not to ask my wife out, I prayed for St. Therese to do her thing and send me a rose. And not just any rose, it had to be pink. And it couldn’t be subtle either, it had to be obvious it was meant for me. Then I came to my senses and felt sheepish for asking for signs.

As soon as I left he Adoration chapel, though, I was walking down the sidewalk and a friend was curiously stopped and just staring at something. When I came up to her, she said, “Look at that” and pointed to the bush right by the sidewalk. There was a single pink rose on the bush. I looked at the other side of the sidewalk, and there was a bush full of multiple red roses. But my friend was pointing out to me the sole pink one.

The funny thing is, I mentioned the story to that friend a few months later and she didn’t remember doing that at all.

I believe that asking for signs regarding marriage is something that is very likely to get some kind of answer- the reason being, that is such a God-ordained confluence of two souls discerning their call to marriage which is quite special in the grand scheme of our lives and God’s plan for us.

Mine is botanical also. A lily pad.

My family was out camping. Husband just off shore decided to make a dive into the water, forgetting he still had on his glasses.

He knew approximately where they had come off, began searching with his toes, carefully on the sandy lake bottom, waist high in the water. I watched him for some time as he covered the grid.

At the instant that I remembered my grandma’s devotion to St Anthony, I jumped to my feet in faith (fully acknowledging to myself what I was doing).

“St Anthony, he needs his glasses to drive our vehicle home.”

That’s when a single solitary lily pad floated into view, stopping just beyond husband’s reach. I shouted to him to reach under the spot. He shrugged and leaned into it, surfacing with his glasses in hand!

Grandma said whenever you go out in the car, make sure you ask St Anthony to clear your way, so you’ll be safe. I think it’s good advice in more occasions than driving.

That’s a great story, Crocus. BUT, how can glasses float? Would they not sink?? 🤔
 
Saint Therese seems to always be interceding for us. I also have a story. My twin brother was killed by someone who was drinking and driving. The impact was so hard it threw my brother 25 feet . They say he died right there on the road. Needless to say my heart was shattered. could not pull myself together for my mother who was beyond being consoled. I started to think did my brother have time to make his peace with God. I begged St. Therese to intercede for my brother,please I begged let him be with God. .I took a ride and when I stopped at the gas station this little boy about seven came up to me and said" please don’t cry anymore this is for you"and handed me a single red rose. Thank you St Therese.

To get away from the vegetation theme… 🙂

St. Joseph came through for us in a big way when we had to sell our house last year.

The housing market where we lived before was terrible. We knew couples who had moved away years and years ago, but never sold their house and wound up just renting it out from a distance. Some good friends who had moved a couple years back went through a huge ordeal selling their house. It took probably a year or more and shaving off tens of thousands off the asking price to finally make a sale. Our next door neighbor who had an identical house to ours (literally, the same guy built both our houses at the same time and according to the same exact floor plan) tried to sell their house for 3 years with no luck before finally taking it off the market the previous year.

So the prospect of selling our house to move to a new locale was a bit stress-inducing.

Nevertheless, we put the house up for sale and prayed a novena to St. Joseph. We listed it at the same exact price our neighbors had unsuccessfully listed their house at for 3 years (we had to as it was not much more than what we paid for it ourselves). In less than 3 weeks, the house sold. (I think the neighbors were a little miffed at that 🤣, but they were a very nice family, so they didn’t begrudge us anything.)

I work in IT. Used to be a sys admin, these days I do policy/process. Many times I have asked St. Isidore for intercession, especially when trying to find work. I firmly believe that his intercession netted me my current job.

Funny story; I graduated from TV Broadcasting in college, with the class after us getting all-new digital equipment. I am literally the Last of the Analog Generation. It only makes sense then that I have a friend in the Last Scholar of the Ancient World.
 
I’m not working right now. Maybe I should do a novena to a saint for a job. I know there are traditional saints for various needs and this is probably a silly question but is it OK if I ask for St Therese to hep me with finding work., maybe I’m supposed to pray to St. Joesph for this request?

I know that different saints are the patrons of different things, and there is generally a reason for why they are the patron of that thing. Nonetheless, I don’t ever feel restricted to only asking particular things from particular saints. If it’s a saint you have a particular affinity for, I say ask away. 👍

Of course, I have a devotion to both St. Therese and St. Joseph, so I would ask them both. 😄
