Hello all-

A question on behalf of my husband who is a pharmacist.

Should he not be dispensing the “Morning After Pill”?

Also, because we practice NFP, should he also refuse to dispense birth control pills?

He is a little torn this morning and asked if I would consult with my friends on this site.

Thank You in Advance…

Definitely not for the MAP, but for birth control, which has medical uses other than contraception, it’s up to him.

He should not be dispensing ‘emergency contraceptives’ which frequently work by prevening implantation, thus killing the prenatal after conception, nor should he be dispensing any chemical contraceptives which sometimes work in the same way.

If he would like to learn more about a prolife organization for pharmacists…have him click on this link.

Part of their efforts include legal updates regarding prolife issues.
Recent events in the pharmaceutical world point to the overwhelming need for a Pharmacist’s Conscience Clause (CC) as an immediate imperative. Until all 50 states and US territories have such protection for Pharmacists of Conscience, many such good and noble pharmacists continue to be persecuted for their sincerely held religious, moral and ethical beliefs. This can only add to the currently dire situation of a grave shortage of pharmacists, especially those who are competant clinically as well as of good moral character, a required condition of licensure, membership and employment in most states, trade associations and employers, respectively
