Any priests that can elucidate this for me?

We should avoid temptations for many reasons and even when we are dealing with the occult or with anything spiritually deleterious.

Yet, temptations are not sins so why is it so important to avoid them?

Is the temptation to doubt the faith a sin or is it rather that doubting the faith is the sin?

And why should we avoid temptations to doubt the faith when we are dealing with the occult?

I’m not a priest, but

It is very important not to fall off the edge of a cliff.

Yet cliff-ledges are not falling off cliffs, so why is it important to avoid them?

As there are hardly any priests in the forums compared to lay members why don’t you talk to your own priest if you only want a priest to respond?
