The Crossroad church ( large non denominational) in Cincinnati is canceling services this weekend as Christmas is a “time for family” They will also periodically cancel services at various times throughout the year for community service projects

I’m from a non denomination church, we have in total 5 service starting from 23 - 25 Dec . This is a day to Celebrate why no service!!
It sounds like your church has the right perspective 👍 Maybe only churches in North America cancel services on these days.

Huh, we have 365days for family and Christmas should be a day for family gathering at church celebrating together with God. What can be more meaningful to celebrate Christmas with our brethen brothers and sister together with God in church!!!

Well it appear to be alittle strange for me if a church cancel their service just to have community service projects. Huh can’t they do it concurrently?? Lucky i’m not in a church that can inform members ,service are cancel due to a particular reason!!! Coz everyone can never and must try not to miss any church service. It is important to serve the community, but that does not mean to miss church service:o

AMEN!!!

Pretty Sad, that one’s faith is only to be practiced on a Sundays or more convenient times.

But what about family, Family is Great and you should spend time with them, but Christmas is about Christ first.

It seems that these new Evangelical Churches (I can’t speak for all of them) are more centered around Personal preference that Praising God.

I hear them say Jesus is MY personal savior, No Jesus saved the whole world not you personally. I don’t want a mid-week service I want to spend time with MY family. Jesus come first before selfish desires.

But no one will come to a mid-week celebration. Well, that should be their loss and if they can’t devote a few hour to praise Jesus, well they are not that commited then. That should’t make the rest avoid having services because its not popular. Gaing converts is not about making them happy, or consumerising religion, Its about preaching the fullness of the Gospel. If the teachings are too inconvenient well too bad, shake the dust from your feet any walk away. Don’t dumb down faith to make it more consumer friendly.

But its an arbitrary day. Yes it is but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t make special consideration to focus a special day on the birth of Christ. Also, it seem like many of the New Wave Churches debate whether to have Christmas services. Well, its not that arbitrary if one is arguing for it. Unfortunately in America, personal preference comes before obedience, sacrifice, prayer, and wholly Christian life. Catholics have masses every day because Christ should be worshiped daily not Just on Sunday. In America work, golf, shopping, vacation, etc. comes before Christ. It is so sad that some who say they preach the faith are encouraging this behavior by making faith consumer friendly.

Merry Christmas

Well Today I stopped at the store on the way to Church. I saw a Catholic lady I know working there and I mentioned I was on my way to church. She told me the Catholic parish here was not holding services this morning.

I ran into the same trouble, where, I just became Catholic, and have moved in with my parents and the usual parish I go to had a 7 am mass only this morning??? I thought it very werid.

I was a Methodist before and we always had christmas mass. I usually went to the midnight service though because it was so beautiful, having the service all in candle light.

Merry Christmas.

Well i guess CC has their own schedule on conducting their Mass as well. So far CC in my country has midnite Mass and at least 3 services on Christmas day itself. In fact i just attended the morning Mass, Gosh it was nice, but then the problem was , the entire Mass were filled with Kids crying, laughing, talking so loud that it irritate others, i can’t even hear what the Priest was preaching…

 :crying:

My (Methodist) church has 3 services every Christmas eve. If Christmas is on Sunday, we have our regular Sunday morning service, plus the services on Christmas eve…
We have always had extra services to accommodate all the people who come. (I guess that:( everybody has “Easter & Christmas” people…just like evryone has folks who show up to have their children baptized…and then don’t bother too much for a while. That is really sad. But it must mean something to them, or they wouldn’t bother with anything…).

I went to the late service, because I love the fact that Christmas arrives while I am actually at church, with other believers, waiting for the hour of His birth!!
