Any RCIA participants out there?

Three years ago I was just starting RCIA. Now I’m an active member of my parish. If you have a question, don’t be shy about asking. I bet there are others in your class with the same questions. During the class I also read several books to learn more detail than they taught, and it gave me plenty of questions to bring up in class. I also searched RCIA on YouTube and watched videos of other classes that added to my education.
Enjoy the journey! By Christmas I had made up my mind to convert.

Thanks to everyone for taking time out of your day to respond, it’s very much appreciated.
I guess I’ll just go see what it’s like, like you said if it’s not for me I can always leave. Just need to get through the door on the first session.
Thanks again peeps.

I went through RCIA three years ago - and I really enjoyed it. I was the only one, so that was a bit different. It was all very relaxed, just like sitting around the kitchen table talking. It’s a safe environment, so feel free to share as you are led. No judgments.

I just started last sunday and it was a nice introduction. There are 5 of us and it was a lovely introduction. I am very much looking forward to each lesson and being baptised/confirmed.

I would advise attending as there are no obligations, so why not?

I should add that although I started RCIA three times, and dropped out twice, I did finish the third time, and my husband who had barely set foot in a Catholic church for 25 years, reverted when I converted. Ten years in, I am very happy and grateful for our holy Church. There wasn’t really anything wrong or bad about my RCIA experience, it was just that I learned much more from the ten or so hours I listened to Catholic radio per week, than what I absorbed in 90 minutes per week of RCIA class.
Good luck and God bless to everyone giving RCIA a try this fall!

That’s encouraging to hear. I have started RCIA twice before (2010 and 2011) and dropped out both times. This is my third go and I feel very confident that I will see it through this time

Ok so just another quick thank you to everyone who helped me out on this thread.
I did end up going to the first RCIA meeting and all your kind words and info helped with that greatly.
If anyone else is reading this and is feeling the same trepidation I did before attending RCIA - my advice to you would be to just jump in and go.
Everyone there was super friendly and there was a mix of people from inquirers, their friends, supportive parishioners, people who had been through RCIA before, the priest, deacon and a religious sister. It was all very relaxed and no one made me talk about my feelings phew.

Thanks again guys!
