There’s that four part series in an ancient collection that warns the people of that time … and the reader of today about the end of their (and our) lives, judgement and potential punishment.
That’s one more book than the Tolkien Trilogy … yet more reality and less fantasy.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John are the four parts.
A different John gives some of the warnings. A doomed hero named Jesus gives the rest - though always tempered with soaring celestial eternal promises for those who’d escape the horrors by following Him in loving God completely as well as their neighbors.
Usually bound with a collection of 69 books which serve as prequels and sequels - many with their own scary warnings (AND terrible sufferings that befell many).
Most of the “books” within the collection have sweeping conflicts, external and internal, that befall individuals or the communities. The collection is affirmed as inspired and beneficial to one’s overall well being and eternal preservation.
One of the better supplemental books for a scare is the book of Job, where an empowered demon is allowed to test the once successful man’s faith by a series of family, financial, housing, marital and medical and social crises which befall him rapidly – only to be consoled by self-righteous “friends” whose initial compassion gives way to scolding judgement.
God Almighty Himself makes a cameo appearance toward the end … which (deleted due to “spoiler alert” concerns).
