Any religious articles personally made by yourself?

During my protestant days, I worked at a parent/adult and young child (under school age) open group in one of the Reformed church parishes and we had a Christmas crib that a pre-school teacher had knitted. It was OK for the kids to play with it. The knitted bodies were pulled over old toilet rolls and felt? balls (for heads). Nothing could break and if needed, could be put in the washing machine.

Google “knitted Christmas crib figures” and you’ll get some ideas of what ours looked like. It is another great way to use all the left over yarn and if there is a bazar in your parish, the crib could be donated to be sold. Grandchildren, if they haven’t got a Christmas crib?

Those are lovely!

I make rosaries as well. I find it soothing and enjoy the act of picking out just the right beads to go with the right centers, and so on. I haven’t been selling them - just giving them away - though I may start accepting for a nominal amount just to allow me to keep buying new supplies.

One of the really satisfying things I did was to enter one of my rosaries in a handcraft competition. I live in a fairly secular/Protestant area (only one Catholic church in the area), and I thought it would be a nice subtle way to evangelize, and it won the class!! That was very satisfying for me.

That is a good idea for yarn scraps. Thank you.

I don’t think I’ll be having grandchildren for quite a while, my children are two years old and seven weeks old.

You know what? Last month, I asked our parish priest to bless one of the rosaries I made for myself. He said it looks great. I told him I did it personally. Then he asked me if I make business out of it or just for hobby. I told him the latter. At first, he requested for 100 pcs., then he saw my reaction and lowered it down to 50. I told him, I wouldn’t mind giving away 5, or even 10. But 50, I’ll go bankrupt. So he asked me if I can charge him only for the materials and the labour for free. I agreed. 🤣🤣🤣

I make Chaplets of Reparation to the Holy Face out of knotted twine:

I crochet too. I’m so going to make one of these! Thank you for the pattern!

Your children will then need a Christmas crib so that they can act out the Christmas narrative while you read it to them. 😃

I have not made anything. I would like to sculpture one day 🙂
Me neither. I also postpone, or simply not feel ready, to begin drawing icons that I like and found on the internet but are not within my reach to purchase irl. But every time I think of doing that, the thought that I am not ready yet or it is more useful to me to just pray instead of drawing comes to mind. Maybe one day…

@Mary888 and @GiftofMercy,

I’ll include you both in the other thread I created “Completing the 20 decades of Rosary”, as one of my prayer intentions, that your dreams will soon be realized. Remember, with GOD, all things are possible. God bless!

Thank you so much ! I’m much more of a knitter than a crocheter myself, but I’m totally going to try this.

A couple in our parish is going to have their baby baptized during the mass today. I don’t know what to give, so I just decided to make him a baby bracelet rosary:

Well, where I live, there’s no church and the nearest shop where you can buy a rosary or something is over 30 kms away, so I started making my own. I’ve even made my own St Philomena Cord and Chaplet (has a blank medal because I haven’t found a St Philomena medal yet)…which I got blessed yesterday at Mass. When I was invested with the Brown Scapular, it was the same thing…I made it as well, even embroidered St Hubert on it. Finnaly, I’m including my rosary, one in a series of three similar ones I made for family members.
