The news of Saint John of Avila going to be declared a Doctor of the Church got me wondering, is there a special ceremony for when a saint is declared a Doctor of the Church?
I Googled it, looked on YouTube and checked the Vatican site and can’t find anything. The closest thing I found was a speech that John Paul II made in the afternoon after the morning he declared Saint Theresa a Doctor in 1997 referring to him having done it earlier in the day.
I’m still waiting for news about when it will be made official with Saint John of Avila. As far as I know, when the Holy Father was in Madrid, all he did was declare the intention to do so and it would be done at a later date, but I haven’t heard of any follow-up on that. Are there updated details I don’t know about?
