I’m a die-hard Tolkien fan. Books of his I’ve read:
  • Lord of the Rings (all three about eight times each)
  • The Silmarillion (three times through)
  • The Hobbit (something around a million times)
  • Farmer Giles of Ham (short story)
  • Smith of Wooton Major (short story, his best in my opinion)
  • Leaf by Niggle (short story)
  • probably something else which I can’t remember right now
I’ll end this post here because otherwise I’ll never stop writing 🙂
Sooo…any other fans here?

Tolkien geek here.🤓

What do you want to talk about?

We can start with the Fall of Gondolin.

That’s one of my favorite stories from the Silmarillion! But my favorite story probably of all time is Túrin Turambar. That is the best (and gnarliest) story that I’ve probably ever read. I love Beleg Strongbow.

I like the hobbit and lord of the rings. The silmarillion was too dry. Never finished it

I’ve read The Hobbit and the Silmarillion.

The Lord of the Rings was too dry for me.

Oh, I forgot to mention Finrod Felagund. He’s the best Elf.

Earendil is my favorite character but I admire Finrod too.

Among the Vala, Manwe is my favorite.

A lot of characters including Thorondor, Lord of Eagles and Huan the hound.

You around? I’m guessing you’re LOTR fans.

I kind of liked the Tolkien story, Leaf by Niggle. But you probably would have guessed that.

Can you perhaps tell me if George R. R. Martian really steal the “R. R.” from Tolkien then?

Hmm…hard to say. Tolkien’s full name was John Ronald Reul Tolkien. I don’t know anything about George R.R. Martian, but it’s likely that he just happened to have the same middle initials.

Tolkien nerd here…did my Senior Project in college (B.F.A) on the Silmarillion. Favorite character is Feanor, I also have a soft spot for Sauron (mainly b/c I find the way that Tolkien wrote him interesting)…he was much more gray than black or white in terms of good or evil. Melkor was pretty much all evil and therefore less interesting to me.

He was born George Raymond Martin and took the confirmation name Richard.

It’s good that he uses his middle initials, because otherwise he would be George Martin — potentially confusing him with the Beatles’ producer.
