Any Truth to This?

I came across an article that contains the following:

“Another time, some brat collides with young Jesus on the playground. Jesus gives him a dirty look and declares, “You will go no further on your way!” And the kid keels over dead. Hoping to curb this delinquent behavior, Joseph sends Jesus to a local schoolmaster. Jesus already possesses the very knowledge of God himself and thus is naturally impatient with the plodding pedantry of his teacher, who regards Jesus’ own precocity as mere impudence. Hence the old man smacks Jesus with a ruler — and keels over dead.”

By chance, is anything like this mentioned in the Bible? The language used in this article is crude, but supposedly the author is a theology graduate.
 
Read the gospels for yourself - you only need read the first few chapters of Matthew and Luke, which are the only ones that even mention Jesus’ infancy. No mention of any such stories.

These stories may be in some of the non-biblical infancy narratives, but they aren’t required belief.
 
I have read the gospels before (and didn’t remember anything like what that article mentioned), but that was a long while ago. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. 😊 Thanks, Lily.

Yes, I will. I’m currently reading the OT (just finished Judges–scary stuff!) and will work my way up to the NT. I can hardly wait to read the gospel of Luke again (my favorite from my teen years).
 
There is nothing in the scriptures about this and no information I am aware of that suggests it to be true.

Perhaps he’s a theology graduate from the planet Xenon.
 
I agree with previous posters-- you need to read the bible.

As for the origin of these outlandish stories, they come from an apocryphal text of the second century, called the Infancy Gospel of Thomas. They are Gnostic writings.

And, of course, they are not true.
 
This is almost certainly the apocryphal “Infancy Gospel of Thomas”, put in more plain language. It is not included in the Bible, as it was written very late and is essentially just a collection of folktales about the life of young Jesus before the age of twelve. Here’s a link:

If you’re reading the scriptures it’s actually best to START with the Gospels.

Don’t know but my favourite is the one that says Joseph was 85 when he married Mary AND lived for 30 years afterwards! :bigyikes: I think even in those days marrying an octogenarian off to a teenage girl would be highy unusual.
 
That would be out of character for him wouldn’t it? I mean how could he be phased by these trivialities if he knows he’s going to offer himself in sacrifice.?

I think the Aninias case is out of character with a new Church of Mercy.(Acts) Now THERE’S a puzzle if there ever was one.
