Any vocational videos for women’s religious life?
Any downloadable or youtube videos on vocation for women’s religious orders? I want to show my confirmation students a short video promotion vocations to women’s religious orders. Thanks again.

Phatmass Vocation forum has “Vocation Station Videos” for vocational use at vocation-station.blogspot.com/

Even though some may be orders/communities abroad, the message is the same - showing the beauty of religious life, what various orders are like, etc. Personally love these:

Poor Clare nuns in Galway, Ireland - several younger women here: ww.lovetobecatholic.com/video_2145_Poor_Clares__Ireland.html (which is also on the Vocation Station video blog) Great stories about young women in early 20’s who were party girls, had boyfriends, etc. and heard God’s call and entered the cloister. Good message that you don’t have to be a saint or saintly to get a call! Their website: poorclares.ie/

Carmelite nuns of Christchurch in New Zealand:

Part 1: youtube.com/watch?v=fQNk5F-peg
Part 2: youtube.com/watch?v=fTR45TSG8
Part 3: youtube.com/watch?v=-aRKFN3ccbA
Part 4: youtube.com/watch?v=Nx3sW7dbO1

Cistercian nuns: ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln1uMWZqo8k&NR=1&feature=fvwp and website: nunocist.org/page37.html

Benedictine Nuns of the Abbey of Regina Laudis: youtube.com/watch?v=xDTmYCukxLo&feature=related - Clip 4 of 6 - website: abbeyofreginalaudis.com/sitelive/index.htm

May orders have videos on their life on their site that aren’t posted on YouTube or LoveToBeCatholic, etc. - like the Carmelite Nuns of Ontario Canada: thecarmel.ca/comeandsee.aspx

On YouTube and elswhere there many videos on the Dominican Sisters of Nashville and Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and other active and contemplative orders.

I have a ton but it will take all day to post them!

Just looking for videos that promote the life regardless of the order. Anything that explaines the “basics” of choosing this vocation. These videos are great, thank you very much.

Please check out www.sistersofmary.org a Dominican order in Ann Arbor. They were featured on Oprah a few months ago. There is a link to the Oprah show at the bottom left of their home page.

It is a wonderful order and I have visited it many times. They have been growing by leaps and bounds and their discernment retreats draw many young women.

In addition to the ones already listed, Vocations Placement has not only tools to help in the early stages of vocation discernment.

They also have a video which hi lights 9 different religious orders and provides a study guide which may be helpful to some who are looking at religious life:
I myself haven’t seen the video though I have myself used the services of this organization when I began the process of looking at various communities.
(among others) Hope this helps someone here…

"I wanted to send you a copy of this informative and new DVD entitled, “Jesus Calls Women.” Jesus Calls Women features over 9 different religious orders with 12 interviews and is approximately 30 minutes. To top it off, there is a study guide included! It is available in English and Spanish on the same DVD. The purpose of the video is to reach out to all of the women who may be seeking religious life, have thought about it, those who just haven’t been informed enough about it yet, or maybe just have a false impression of religious life.

Order it now at: vocationsplacement.org/books.asp?bookpage=true*

And we will include the book, “The Promised Land Of Vocation” “Knowing if you are called to marriage, religious life, or the priesthood.”

If you want to order by mail simply send check or money order in the amount of $27.70 to:

N. Smith Publishing

Coral Springs, Fla. 33067 "
Code:

Thank You so much!!! All of you on “the boards” are in my prayers daily. I pray that blessings will continue to be with all those who are seeking and or supporting religious life in its many forms, (and for those whose vocation is to the married or single life who support so many of us… blessings on you too) Peace and all Good!

I normally do not recommend this, but be sure to watch Oprah today!

The following is from the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor Michigan:

We are happy to announce that the Sisters’ appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show had such a positive response when it first aired on February 9th, that they have decided to broadcast it again on Monday, August 16th. Please be sure to check your local listings for the time and station in your area. Special thanks to all of our friends who offered such a positive response last time.

Also see this thread for discussion about the show last time it aired:

Quoted from Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey
In January-February 2006, in connection with a project of The Learning Channel, five lay women lived with us for 40 days. A camera crew followed them and us as we incorporated them into our daily work and prayer, and explained to the best of our ability the meaning of our life.
For various reasons the 4 programs made of this experience have never aired. However, we have DVD copies of the programs and are able to make them available to our friends. We do ask that you reimburse us for the cost of the DVD’s and shipping/handling.
As soon as we can, we will make available on this page materials that can be used in conjunction with the DVD’s, for a group retreat or a discussion group. Our hope and prayer is that these programs may be of help to many people on their journey to God.
