Are there any young earth creationists out there? Does anyone want to discuss it? Does anyone have any questions about it? Do you believe it is ridiculous? Do you think it is 100% without a doubt the truth? Please give me your thoughts. I would like to get a discussion going.

I actually have two evangelical friends who are.
They’re both lovely ladies.
Neither of them are in-your-face about it.
One of them has her college degree.

Thanks for the (name removed by moderator)ut 🙂

What are your personal thoughts on the matter?

Intelligent design.
However it happened, God started it all…

I mean, in the big context of things, it really doesent matter.

As long as they’re theists, we have bigger fish to fry with converting athiests

I think it is probably incorrect and often informed with misinformation. However, what do I know but what I know?

Why don’t you take most of Genesis literally? We’re supposed to take to Scripture literally at all times, except when reason demands otherwise.

I may have seen the same thing on Netflix. What was it called?

I have been ridiculed for my position so often I rarely speak up anymore…so at the risk of going through this again (I am new here) but yes, I am of the “young earth” belief.

I believe in the seven day creation, the flood and the story of Noah. That God did exactly what He said He has done…

Pope Leo XIII taught in his Encyclical Providentissimus Deus that we must strictly follow the literal meaning of scripture in all cases, unless reason would make it necessary to do otherwise.

Pretty much all the Church Fathers and Doctors were unanimous in believing that Genesis 1-11 was a literal historical account of creation.

You’re not alone!!! I too believe the same thing you believe! If we’re persecuted a lot, that’s a sign that we’re on the right track!

The thing is, a lot of people think that our beliefs are totally unfounded. But they aren’t. A simple google search will demonstrate that.

I’ll try to find the quotation in a minute.

Whenever the Church Fathers unanimously agree on something, it is considered authoritative.

Thank you…

I believe for several reasons…but I guess the main theme being it is God…He is Omnipotent…if He wanted to create the universe, earth and us just the way it is recorded, then He most certainly could. I believe in the Glory of God, in a high view of God…and that even though we cannot wrap our heads around it does not make it any less real. The same with miracles, they defy our logic and laws of natural science yet still take place.

Also to add, I do not see this particular point to be anything that should cause division or turmoil between believers.

I also agree it tasks the mind, especially going from Noah’s family onward…

As a side note, I live in Southern Indiana and took a trip to the Creation Museum years ago and it was really interesting…the cut away of the ark was really cool. I think they now have a huge version of it… There were many different denominations there when I went…and let’s just say they lay out a persuasive argument for those that may not hold such a belief. It was an enjoyable trip…

Hello all! I’m brand new here and I’m probably jumping right into the deep end by replying to this topic, lol. 😉 I believe in a young Earth and literal interpretation of Genesis as well, including the world-wide Flood. However, believing in the literal interpretation doesn’t preclude being able to appreciate all the layers of symbolism and imagery that are present as well. One of my favorite things about Scripture is that the more you dig into it, the more you find there is to learn and appreciate. Just my two cents.

God bless!

You claimed that all the church fathers and doctors said the creation story was literal. Prove it.

I don’t think you can. Even the Jews never agreed that each day was a literal day. Furthermore you’re implying that Catholics must accept this interpretation of scripture because you said when church fathers all agree it’s an authoritative teaching.

The TRUTH is that Catholics can remain faithful and believe in a different account of intelligent design besides young earth creationism.

We’ve found trees older than the supposed date of Noah’s ark according to YEC.

Just look at the Grand Canyon. It could not have formed that way in only six thousand years. YEC is completely preposterous

See, that right there is why I hate these kinds of discussion…you may not hear it, but that can come across as very insulting. I think you have every right to disagree, but there is a much kinder way to do so.

As if young earth creationists aren’t insulting to every geologist

I expressed my belief, and in no way ridiculed any geologist…you have not been so kind…

Have a blessed evening,

M

How do you reconcile that geologists say there’s no way that the Grand Canyon could have formed in only six thousand years

Or dinosaur fossils
