Hi,
Im not sure if this is the right sub forum to ask this question. I was wondering if anybody could share their experiences with a miraculous healing of mind or body by praying. For example, cured from diabetes, cancer, depression, alzheimers, paralysis…

i see many posts for healing. I would love to read examples of where their healing was due largely to prayer.

Thanks

It’s natural to wonder…

Did I ever thank You much, Lord, for the time during a healing Mass, when the priest described exactly the injury in my neck that I’d told no one about, and he directed the Sister to pray with me after Mass. The pain, and the sound like broken china grinding whenever I turned my head ever since a fall down the stairs several years before never recurred since that moment. Thanks Lord, because I don’t think I thanked you again after that evening, but once in a while am mindful of what was until then, and never again.

Go figure!

Bless you, Trishie! 🙂

But…healing, even miracles of healing, are often gradual…

Lord, thank You for all the gradual miracles, the miracles of conversions and healings and blessings that we hardly notice, but which are miracles of Your love and answers to prayers.

For, “To You, a thousand years are a single day, a yesterday now over, an hour of the night.” [Psalm 90:4]

I’ve witnessed many miracles of healing.
Some in my family, and some in the hospital where I practiced as an RN.

I can tell you of some that happened to me. One was that I had resentment and anger towards one of my sister for something she allowed her husband to do to me. For years I prayed to be healed of the anger. When I was a student at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, I went to a healing service. I went up to a group of “prayers” two nuns, a priest and some men. They asked me what I wanted healing from. I could have asked for my back, for I have a bad back, but I asked for healing from a broken heart and resentment due to what my sister did or allowed. They laid their hands on me and spoke in tongues. It was instant and when I left, I had no anger towards my sister. Today, we have a great relationship.

Another time I went to a healing service by Maria Rocha, a person with the gift of healing, and I had migraines and she called out for migraines and I went up, but before reaching her, I noticed the headache I had was gone. I have been to many of her healing services and she has called out many back pains, but I was never healed from that, so this time I was from the migraines. God is great and knows what I can handle. My back pain is for redemptive suffering.

When I worked as an RN, I came across a woman what had stage four cancer in one of her breast. It was a huge tumor and it smelled really bad. I had to go in and change her dressing and we got to talk. She was not Catholic, but belong to another church. I asked her why she did not come in sooner when she saw her breast getting bigger and bigger. She looked at me and said, “This one is going to be for the glory of God. The doctors tell me I will die, but I know the Lord will heal this and it will glorify Him.” I smiled and told her that I hope so. She was a very prayerful person. When I walked out of her room, I heard the doctors talking about her condition. They felt that metatasis has occured into the body and that even if they removed the breast, she would die. They did not feel that she would live long. This patient was never once afraid. In fact, we prayed before her surgery. She did have the breast removed and to all the doctors and some nurses, including me, surprise she did not have metatasis at all. They removed all the cancer and she was cancer free. I was with her when the doctors made their rounds and they told her and she smiled and said, “Of course, I told you the Lord was going to be glorified and He is. He cured me!” The doctors left and two of them said that there must be a God, but one unfortunately said that this patient was just lucky the cancer did not spread.

My Mother in law has had excema all her life, and she went on a Pilgrimage to Lourdes, but while she was there she foolishly had a paddle in one of the fountains in the town. The bacteria in the water caused an infection in her leg, which turned into an ulcer. She tried for months with anti biotics etc., to get rid of the ulcer, but without any success. The doctor was getting worried that it would turn into something much more serious. In my town there was an Irish lady named Mora who said there was a friend of hers in Ireland who prayed to a certain Saint for people who had infections, ulcers etc., and she would have a word with her. Within three days the ulcer had improved, and after two weeks it had completly healed. I think it was a Miricle, and the doctor was baffled. Yours in Christ, Trevor.

There is a stigmatist in the upper peninsula in Michigan. He laid hands on a friend of a friend for healing a orange sized cancerous tumor on his neck… The moment he started to pray over him the tumor miraculously dissapeared.

I miracle without a doubt.

God performs many miracles through the saints… For example, Padre Pio prayed for a woman blind from birth who had no pupils… she was cured and can see now but still has no pupils.

A miracle. She is still alive.

When I was pregnant with our second child, my husband was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease. The doctors did surgery to try to remove the largest tumor that was pressing on his heart, but said he would have died on the operating table had they removed it. After 22 cobalt treatments did nothing to shrink the tumors, the doctor told us my husband had 3 months to live. He would not have lived to see our son born. My husband said to the doctor “you are not God, and I am not dead yet.” He was sent home to die. Many prayers were said for his healing. He went for x-rays to check the growth of the tumor each week. At three months he went for another x-ray and they found only scar tissue. The tumors were gone and he was healed. The doctors had no explanation for this except to say it was a miracle. Praise God, for he answers our prayers.

I truly believe miracles of healing happen all the time. My husband, Joe, has pancreatic cancer and I have posted a prayer request on the CF forum. He has come through 2 rounds of chemo with very slight effects. Next we have a cyberknife treatment to ZAP the cancer in the pancreas. God does answer prayers…I will keep you posted. Your sister in Christ, diane

I would like this thread to continue to grow, so i am “bumping” this message.

I wrote this several montha ago for another forum. My husband is still on dialysis, while we wait for the completeness of his healing, which is coming. He gets stronger and better day by day. He is hoping this weekend to be able to serve the Divine Liturgy for the frist time since Feb. Oh, we are Eastern Rite and he is a deacon. God bless you all!

I want to share a bit of our journey over these last weeks in regards to my husbands health and my health (which is minor). Here is a bit of the events as they have occured and I shared with those who I had asked for prayer. Things seemed to happen so fast, I didn’t get to ask here, but wanted to share the miracle with you, because I know you pray!

My husband had been in the hospital for over a week by the time I went to the ER to get a shot. My shot in the emergency room ended up in a 9 day stay in the hospital for me. Well, at least we were under the same roof, not room, but same roof http://www.chnetwork.org/forums/images/emoticons/wink.gif Jesus was present there in the Eucharist so we were blessed.

I have to share a little, let me see if I can recall the sequence of events…

1. I heard the Lord say on Tuesday (that would be two weeks ago) ‘all for my honor and glory.’ I said ok Lord! By Tuesday night, it was clear he was becoming disoriented and could not function on his own and they placed him in the step down unit for cardiac care for a dopamean(sp) drip -which they didn’t do. Then they moved him to CICU for dialysis. Then on Sunday, as they were moving him from CICU into MICU Fr. Deacon Seraphim brought a small icon of the Theotokos, which got placed on his chest and remained there for several days.

2. Fr. Deacon Stan got steadily worse, his kidneys shut down completely. The four pints of blood became four more pounds of fulid. He was placed on 24 hr diaylsis.

3. He had too much CO2 so they placed a tube in him - innovated him, I guess with a ventalator - to get it out.

4. By then, he was gone, there was no communication from him for four days.

5. They said he was heart was holding strong, pumping 50% of the blood it saw, which was great and keeping his body going, considering two years before he had had quadruple bypass surgery(God even prepared that).

They said he was still there.

6. Monday, a week ago, our Lord Jesus Christ, sent three priests to pray with him:

a. Fr. Wriggly annointed him in the morning - he slightly opened his eyes, but just as quickly went back out.

b. Fr. Isi gave him to the Lord that if his life was to be a vegtable then to take him home. If not, then heal him. This was at midnoon. He pressed on his chest accidently, and Stan’s eyes opened wide, but he went back out.

c. Fr. Frank (our priest) came, it was late noon, early evening. He annointed him, used relics I know of St. George, but not certain who else, I think a combination. Prayed with him. Deacon opened his eyes and tried to follow and then went back out.

CON’T

The kids came that evening (I am only going by what I have been told, as I was in the hospital myslef, on the next floor). The kids said he opened his eyes, and followed them around the room.

The next morning, the nurse said, he had his eyes opened and was responding to her commands.

Then his blood gases got better. The next day - actually his hands were strapped down - he managed to pull out the ventalator tube from his throat. His fighting spirit was backhttp://www.chnetwork.org/forums/images/emoticons/big_grin.gif

That evening I think it was, they said his kidneys started working.

Two other couples came by to pray for him.

The next day the dialysis machine coagulated, since it was at night, they had to wait till morning to get it back online. HIS KIDNEYS WORKED THE REST OF THE NIGHT!

They put him back on dialysis. His blood gases improved so much they took him off the ventelator. By then they were removing three liters of fluid and hour from his body.

WELL! YOUR FAITHFULNESS TO PRAYER, AS BROUGHT FORTH A MIRACLE.

They removed 54 pounds of fluid from him. He weighed 244 when we took him in, he now weighs 190, about where he was when this all started. He is NOT on dialysis, his figures are good enough and kidney function too, that they don’t think he will have need of diaylsis. His lung function is normal, his heart function is normal, and it is all somehow by God’s grace becoming normal. He had been on a feeding tube and is now feeding himself, what little he eats, but he is!

The first food he received after the ventelator was removed - THE EUCHARIST!

He is not totally out of the woods yet, he is in MICU, now they have to figure out what has really been happening. He talks a little but tires very easily. A long road to go yet.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST,

IN SO MANY WAYS IT WAS LIKE THE VISITATION OF ABRAHAM! Our Lord sent three priests to pray.

IN SO MANY WAYS IT WAS LIKE LAZARUS WAS CALLED FORTH FROM THE TOMB! As he was there four days.

DANIEL 13: (of Susanna)
35 Through her tears she looked up to heaven, for she trusted in the Lord wholeheartedly.
44 The Lord heard her prayer.

ALL OF YOU TRUSTED! In my tears I trusted, I could do nothing for my husband, I was in a hospital bed, I could not even hold his hand. People said they walked away from him in tears, not understanding, but trusting.

I had a lot of time to pray for all of you. I am still processing it all. I especially remembered those of us on here who are suffering for our spouse’s health. I hope in some small way, my suffering and my testimony as it is right now, can help.

Because remember, my testimony, is that God’s people were faithful to pray.

2 Chronicles 7:
14
and if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and revive their land.

15
Now my eyes shall be open and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place.

I forgot to say that my husband spent seven weeks in the hospital, and has been home for two months now. His doctors - well, they were all shaking their heads, saying I just don’t understand. :rotfl:Well our God knows what he is doing.

Since he was in over Easter, during Holy Week we have a service at our Church where oil is blessed to used for healing, in which we all take some home - this is not chrism, but oil. So I took some to him. Then he asked a few nurses if they wanted to be annointed and prayed with 👍 From that time on, he had a steady stream of hospital employees coming into his room asking to be annointed and prayed with. See, we just never know how God is going to do things, just six months before - well he had completed a course in being a hospital chaplain. :extrahappy:God is going to use the gifts and talents he gives you, no matter where you are in life. All we have to do is say YES LORD!
