Anybody have a devotion to the Child Jesus

My friend, you would do well to heed Paul’s words in I Cor. 13–“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I reasoned like a child…but when I became a man I put away childish things!”
The pure fellowship with the risen Christ (who is NOT forever on the cross, but according to Hebrews has SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, finished with his scrificail work) when enjoyed properly, will leave you no time for such spurious things as praying to a non-existent child!) Get out into the deep water dear friend and forget childish things!

And why don’t you, my dear friend, put aside your spurious notion of the Child Jesus as somehow being less eternal God than the adult Jesus (as if He somehow grew into eternity, or into divinity, as well as into manhood) - and just humbly worship the Divine babe as did the shepherds and wise men.

And why don’t you put aside your equally spurious notion that the crucified Jesus is somehow less eternal God than the risen and glorified one, when St John the Divine in Revelation tells us exactly what how He appears for all eternity - the lamb standing as if slain.

Maritn777, Christian devotion to the Holy Infancy, or to the Wonds of Christ or to the Passion is simply an acknowledgement and celebration of those aspects of Our Lord’s life. When we pray to the Divine Child we are affirming the truth of the Incarnation and appealing to the mercy, love, and humility of the Lord that caused him to come down and be born as a lowly babe for our salvation. Ofcourse Jesus Christ is risen and glorified and seated at the right hand of the Father. To acknowledge and celebrate His humility in his infancy or his love and mercy in his Passion is not to denigrate or deny that. God bless!

Catholic speaker Marino Restrepo has a Christmas Divine Infancy Novena on his website. The novena begins on Dec. 16th and ends on Dec. 24th. Here’s a link directly to that pdf:

Thank you. Oddly enough, although I have a devotion to the Child Jesus (especially many of the saints - the Carmelite Order comes immediately to mind), I could never explain / justify this devotion.

I know that I am a day late here. Both sides of my family had a devotion to the Infant of Prague. I even learned how to make the vestments in liturgical colors for them.

Recently, I was blessed enough to receive my first gen-yoo-ine church statuary - an IOP! Sitting in the back room was a wooden 2’ tall Infant, perfectly neglected. I asked the Liturgist about it, who referre me to the Pastor. He growled, “We don’t practive that particular devotion here.”

So, the Liturgist let me “have” it (if ever I were to be done with it, I would have to return it to the church, of course), and I’ve been busy sewing different gowns and touhing up paint and making new cross parts for it for a little over a month now.

That is great. I have 2 of my dads old statues that have broken hands, crosses, and crowns. I wish that I was able to fix them. You are doing a great job!
 
alavenderluvbug, contact me privately through PM. I repair old statues - the chalk/plaster kind. If you can send pics, I’ll see what I can do for you. Especially for the Infant of Prague, it takes a little “carving” of new fingers from joint compound. (Call me crazy but I find it fun and relaxing.) There’s never any charge for an Infant of Prague, either.
