Based on everything I can find, he seems completely above board. He has the support and approval of his Bishop and is fully obedient to him and his spiritual director (appointed by the Bishop). I also have friends who have gone to healing Masses where he spoke. One friend (sort of former friend, I guess) in particular, had a pretty dramatic healing.

So, despite this, I’m still skeptical. I am a convert who was primarily agnostic and somewhat atheistic. I am somewhat uneasy about the charismatic movement and healings and that kind of stuff. I believe that these things do happen and that God continues to provide these gifts to us, but I just never expect them to happen around me. 😃

Anyway, I am in desperate need of healing for a number of reasons (mostly spiritual/relationship oriented). He is coming to Atlanta in a few months and I am looking forward to this, but I don’t want to get pulled into something that I shouldn’t be involved in.

If anyone knows anything, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

By the way, his website is alanames.org/en/

Question 13- Who is Alen Ames?

Mr. Sungenis, thank you for always responding promptly to all my questions. My brother is into a man named Alen Ames who claims to have divine revelations about the life of our Lord. He has written a few books such as: Through the Eyes of Jesus, A Story of Love, Heaven Speaks… He also claims to have healing powers. I am skeptical. I would like to know if you know anything about him or if you know someone whom I could ask about him.

Soldier of Christ,
Jaime

R. Sungenis: Jaime, I’ll be brief. RUN, don’t walk, away from Alen Ames. He is a false prophet./B]

Thanks for the response. That was probably my first thought, but I’m generally very hard to convince on this kind of stuff unless the Church has spoken.

That said, given the whole geocentrism thing (among others) I take R. Sungenis’ opinions with a grain (maybe a few) of salt. I wish he had given some details regarding why he thinks that. I’m really having a hard time find anyone on the Internet that is able to back up that opinion. So, I guess I’ll just keep working through his messages… 😉

Well, reviving this thread: I happened to see Alan Ames:

Ok, this thread is two years old and I don’t know if a fresh response will “bump” it up:

I’ve read the first book “Through the eyes of Jesus” and I’ll save comment for that later if need be.

I’d see Pentecostal Holy Spirit, maybe the word is, Charismatic Preachers on TV in the past: you know, put the hand of God to your forehead and like a bolt of lightning, people go down. At a recent “Healing Mass” Alan Ames was there: I helped the ushers as we would stand behind people and catch them if they fall. Alan’s actions were more like a Blessing of the cross to the forehead and because I talked to him briefly before (I’ve got a thing for England, so I said “Good Luck Mate” even though I’m not such myself, Ames was born in England, moved to Australia, is half Irish) so he in fact, made his blessing to me three times and I half way was keeping consciousness cause I was thinking, I don’t want to fall.

So, with that said, this was like “Holy Spirit” stuff, “Charismatic” stuff in the Catholic Church but done in a Catholic way…

… But there does seem to be a bliss that emanates from him and sure, I and others have to watch out for psychological factors and the like.

YouTube, for the bad that is there, still has numerous Religious videos and they have a few on Alan Ames there, a healing prayer from him that I for one, find that effective to watch and also, a TV news report out of San Antonio that indeed claims that after his healing session, a woman was cured!

So guardedly, I don’t find anything wrong with him. He has just been in the United States and I saw him just last week. I don’t know what to think when people say, they add a prayer to a Rosary as I know one American Seer has done, not Alan, but Alan has come out with this Trinity Rosary, something about saying 11 Our Fathers and 1 Glory Be per decade but I’d have to get out the brochure to remember the rest, it may be that only 3 decades are said, of course, he suggests this after praying the Full Rosary daily. And then, in the material I have, it seems he had another different type of Rosary in the past, late '90s that he instructed people about, again, in the materials I have that I can discuss later.

I’ll see how this thread is doing, as I was pondering starting one.

I actually heard good things about Alan Ames but just like with Vassula Ryden I am always a bit skeptical too.
