A lot of the games are highly immersive and of a violent nature. This can easily lead to anger, I think.

Anyways, when you’re fighting, it’s best not to get angry. Figure out what caused you to get killed, think through it using your reason which you can’t use very well when you are angry and that will make you a better player. 🙂

Quit playing video games. Video games are completely and totally useless other than a means of decompression or fun. If they are making you angry, then you have no reason to play them.

Says you and your view point I suppose.

I lack the time to play games seriously. Yet, as I lve mentioned in other posts they serve as a bridging tool culturally, as entertainment (which ironically considering this thread is stress relief) and as a way of distracting the youth from physical violence into co-operation (which is why they are commonly employed in prisons).

Insulting an entire demographic because you think they are worthless is worrying dictatorial.

Many years ago, when I was studying for my career. I had to sit in on a drug rehabilitation group. The one thing that stuck with me is when people would say. “I am angry” the leader would say. “Anger is a secondary emotion, what else are you feeling?”

What is meant by this is we never feel anger by itself. Anger is a symptom of another emotion. Fear, frustration, humiliation, sadness, As a few examples. Just saying that you are angry isn’t saying much. What else are you feeling with this anger?

Why get angry when you die in a game? The game is not going anywhere afterward. You can play again. If you get that emotional I think video games are too important to you and you should expand your interests and what you spend your time doing. Maybe cut back for a time and ponder why these games are so important to you. Anyways, I think you will calm down as you get older. I don’t think you sin greatly at all if you just control yourself when you begin to get angry.

Yes, I was thinking it is maybe frustration, not anger.
I’m not sure this is really anything big to worry about. Maybe just have a pillow handy to punch? 😄
You sound like a good kid.

If there is one thing that annoys me, it is people asking about their anger. Just stop it, will you ! I’m about to flip my lid !

It could be caused by a multitude of other emotions. Not just frustration. Does he have friends outside of playing videogames, or is he just vegetating in front of the game, does he feel lonely? Is the video game just not stimulating him mentally, and he feels bored? Is he spending an inordinate amount of time playing videogames, and perhaps he feels guilt not getting other things done?

He needs to think what is going on behind his anger. There is something else going on there.

Dear Someboy,
Knowing we have a Father, who loves us. His Son is our Brother to sav us. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, to comfort and empower us. God says:”I HAVE A PLAN FOR YOU. IT IS A GOOD PLAN W/O EVIL. IT HAS A PURPOSE AND A FUTURE!”
With all the things there are to do in a family and in church, do you have time for video games. The games you choose should be G RATED or PG 13. They should not include violence.
Jesus was angry in the Temple where they were selling sacrificial animals, etc. THIS IS MY FATHERS HOUSE AND YOU HAVE TURNED IT INTO A DEN OF THEIVES.!” He threw things.,
Desensitize your feelings w losing. Phooey, I lost that time. It’s only a game… laugh! Humor can cancel out anger., it won’t feel like real humor b/c your anger emotion is occurring. After awhile, you’ll feel silly and laugh. Change one emotion for another.
Killing ppl in a video can bring our agitation. Rethink your video games.
Lord, Jesus, guide this sweet boy to walk the path, you wish him to walk. Galatians 5: 22. The fruit of the Spitits are love, joy, peace, ?,?, and self control.

Maybe I should clear some things up. I only play video games for a couple hours after coming home from school. And I do have friends outside of them. I feel like my anger does start as simply frustration. Frustration because I usually die of simple silly things like lag or missing shots. I usually can calm myself quickly after a loss, but eventually it just builds up and I feel like it would be relieving to hit the table beside me, not a person. I am a straight A student and always get my homework done first, if that tells you anything. I’m just not the best at controlling my anger when I start to get passionate about the game. For all those who gave thoughtful advice, thank you I really appreciate you💯

I would like to say, that in my post I was not accusing you of having loneliness, boredom, guilt. But trying, to dig deeper to help you find the source of your anger. Like I said in a previous post, When you say I feel angry over my video game, it really isn’t saying much…Because you’re not addressing the source of your anger, and this anger could be caused by a multitude of other feelings.

Now that you’ve told us that the feeling underlying your anger is “frustration” it gives people more ways to help you. The source of your anger is not loneliness, boredom, or guilt. But, frustration. My suggestion for you is when you feel frustrated with your game. Then you’re not enjoying it. So walk away. Maybe for a day or two to clear your head, then when you reapproach it again, perhaps you’re challenges and emotions you have during the game will be less emotionally taxing for you.

I have kids, mostly boys, and they’re gamers. I suggest you take that anger and do push-ups with it. Or put a punching bag in your room. Something like that 😊

Just a game???

😡😡😡

The fate of the universe hangs in the balance and you say it’s just a game?

Ok just for a laugh, deliberately loose the next game. Its not like there is a million dollars at stake.

If your anger arises from frequently repeating a task in your game take a break every 15-20 minutes especially when you are stuck. This will allow you to relax a little and think about strategies.

If your anger arises because the level is too hard, then stay with the lower levels. There is no shame in easy mode. Once the game becomes a source of frustration then why play it?

Read through the tips and walk-through’s, it is not cheating.

Remind yourself that games are a learning process, yes some games are just plain tough. Getting through the stages can give one a sense of accomplishment. Failure to achieve a lot induces rage. If you are failing to achieve then return back to taking regular breaks.

When all else fails, find a outlet for your rage rather than damaging your nice stuff.

The most wonderful thing is that you recognize that you get angry and that you really want to make changes and improvements!
