Anyone converted when living outside of the U.S.?

Has anyone converted while living outside of the US? Is the RCIA process the same worldwide, or are there differences? I live in South America right now, and will not be returning to the States to live until 2018.

Hi Expat Girl,

I’m American and I returned to the Church while living in Japan, although I never did RCIA. I would suggest using Google to find your nearest Catholic church and then finding out if they have any English-speaking priests (presuming you are most comfortable speaking in English).

If you just show up to Mass you may also meet people who can help you (my church in Japan turned out to have an expat community).

I think RCIA should be basically the same anywhere in the world, but the question would be whether it’s offered in a language you are comfortable using.
