Anyone else purchased this?

It looks to me to just like a perfume bottle with a cap you can screw back on.

I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to close it.

Yes, holy water is to be used, not just prayed with.

If you open it and then find that you can’t close it again, I recommend that you seal the top with plastic wrap and an elastic band. Very tight, to prevent any evaporation.

Good luck with it 🙂

If you can’t reuse the bottle just put it into a bottle you can open and close .

It specifically says that it should be blessed by a priest, suggesting that it is regular water. What is more sacred? Fancy water you order and pay for from France, or Holy Water given to you by your priest in your parish? Were I you, I would appoach my priest with an empty bottle, and ask if you may collect some holy water. It sounds like that act of humility will be more special. But hey, sounds like your money went to a good cause, so I wonder which is “better,” if there is such a thing?

I just recently purchased this ewtnreligiouscatalogue.com/HOLY+WATER+BOTTLE+WITH+WATER+FROM+LOURDES/cid=180/page_no=5/edp_no=15576/shop.axd/ProductDetails water from Lourdes and now that I got it, I don’t know how to use it. It seems, if I open it, I won’t be able to close it again. Do I just pray with it in the bottle? I was hoping to use it. Anyone else who has purchased this thoughts please. Thanks!
Either the lid will screw back on again or you can push it back down over the top of the bottle. I have a few miniature perfume bottles, and you can always do one or the other with them.

My opinion? Chances are this water came from the tap. Yes, it might be from Lourdes, but it is not “Lourdes water.” I would wonder why EWTN would bother selling something that is such a “rip off.”

It also looks like it comes in a container that doesn’t reseal. But in the picture there is another empty bottle. If you want to use the water, open the plastic container that is cased in the cardboard and pour the water into the empty bottle.

Eh?

You do know that Lourdes water isn’t holy water, right?
Eh?

As I said, most likely, this water came from a tap. NOT from where Bernadette saw Our Lady. NOT from the water that Our Lady pointed out. In other words, not from the spring at Massabielle. In other words, a scam.

Who mentioned holy water?

When I see something like this in a catalog or on line, it screams “rip off.”

If EWTN has been duped, perhaps you could write them and alert them about the information you have.

Let the buyer beware. That is information that everyone has. If the OP is happy with their purchase, great. Would I ever buy something like that? No way.

EWTN is selling a product they purchased. That is what stores do. When I buy a crucifix for our local store, I don’t travel to see them chop down the wood.

Do you really think someone from EWTN went to Lourdes and scooped up the water? Then packaged it up in the sealed container? Or do you think a company mass produced the item?

That’s EXACTLY what I think! I only believe what I’m told in emails by Nigerians and by their cohorts, the ETWN Religious Catalogue.

I think that perhaps someone who has actually been to Lourdes will possibly be able to answer your questions as to how water from the Grotto is obtained .

The spring in the Grotto is actually covered over by glass - but you can see the water flowing beneath it. The water is piped and can be drawn off at any one of several taps nearby,

The water is free for your collection but you can buy bottles anywhere which you may fill from the taps from the piped supply. Alternatively you can supply your own bottles.

If you want you can even go into an Office in the Domaine and ask if Lourdes water can be shipped to your address in the USA or anywhere else for that matter ] All you have to pay for is the container and the shipping. There is no cost for the water and everyone takes great pains to point this out.

I still have about 2 pints of water from my last trip - and it’s as clean as the day I collected it - last year . I have given plenty of it away to sick people who are not able to go to Lourdes and I just decant some from my supply into a small bottle - usually between 100 and 200 mls and seal it well.

I’m sure that if the OP asked EWTN he/she would be assured that they are only paying for the card and the empty bottle .

You can buy Rosaries in many of the shops in Lourdes that have a drop of water in the Centres - but again it is stressed that you are not paying anything extra for the drop of water.

If you go on the Water Walk - the various fountains are there and you are encouraged to wash your face and hands in the water - no charge for this. Go to the Baths and bathe in the water there - again no charge.

All the water in the Grotto , from the piped water by the Grotto , from the baths and from the Water Walk is water from Massabielle - where Bernadette saw Our Blessed Lady

What about the holy water in the fonts at my local church? Or yours for that matter.

I certainly never saw the priest bless it. Did you?

For all we know some well-meaning but wrong headed secretary in the parish office might have just filled the font up from the tap the last time it ran empty. Yet occasionally I certainly put some in a bottle to take home in the belief that it is holy water.

No harm, no foul. 🤷 I think God honours the intent and the faith of the user in such cases.

Seriously? You really want to equate the two? Your parish priest that chances are, you know personally to whomever fills the little cardboard encased tubes?

Look, I don’t care what kind of water EWTN is selling. I wouldn’t buy it. But others have.

The OP needs to open the non-resealable plastic bottle and pour the water into the glass bottle. Then he needs to get the water blessed.

Well, yes I know him. What I don’t know is what the system for filling the holy water fonts, nor do I know the other staff in the parish, the ones who may take it upon themselves to do so with unblessed water (perhaps without his knowledge).

So the two situations can be equated.

I am so sorry you feel this way about your parish and your pastor.

Well the fact that I don’t know them is a natural consequence of not having lived long where I am, nothing to be sorry about. I haven’t said that I don’t trust them - I do.

I’m very much sorrier that you are so deeply mistrustful of the good people of Lourdes, or at least the good people working to produce this item.

Pray tell, why are they or their bosses one bit more likely to be dishonest than your own parish priest, or your good self for that matter? What have they done to you to deserve such an uncharitable amount of suspicion directed at them for so little cause that I can see?
