From what I can tell, the water is from Lourdes and is in a sealed container.

The bottle is a container for holy water…so that bottle should be resealable. It may have been meant that the water be placed in the bottle container.

As for the advice to have this blessed…it may have to do with having the container, and prayer card blessed.

Just a thought…could the water have been blessed before it was placed in the sealed container? (anybody who has been to Lourdes chime in?)
 
Everyone who is saying it could be tap water, etc. I trust that EWTN would not do that, and even if they did, God would still honor the faith and action.

I’m trying to count up the number of times I , personally, have been to Lourdes - I think it’s about 10 !

I’m thinking of the number of times I’ve seen Pilgrims filling up their Gallon [European ] containers with Water from Lourdes , queuing up at the taps in the Domaine .

I’m thinking of all the pilgrims that visit Lourdes every year

I’ve never ever yet seen anyone ask to have their Water blessed ? Is it not already Blessed by being from the spring that miraculously sprung up when Bernadette was told by Our Blessed Mother to wash herself in the water there ?

Oh ye of little faith

Did you read the rest of my posts on this thread? My opinion is that I would never buy something like this. Because there is NO guarantee that it is truly water from the spring.

If you want to send $6 plus shipping to EWTN for this water, feel free. But I WOULD NEVER DO IT.

And once again, this isn’t about me or what I would buy.

This is about the OP, who by now, should know that twisting off the lid of the plastic bottle and dumping the water into the glass one should work.

That is what I thought…it does not need to be blessed…so I was wondering why the EWTN writing advised the need to be blessed by a priest.

Anyway, my m-in-l went to Lourdes several years ago, and gave us a bottle of the water. And we have had seen no need to have it blessed.

I think EWTN is making sure everyone knows they aren’t selling Holy Water. (Simony)
 
Reading this thread I realize to what extremes one can go.
We could have water at our house and have a priest from blessing it at a long distance blessing.
I think, I repeat, I think, it would make it water blessed from Lourdes.
NB - I would not do that.

It reminds me of one going to Lourdes and they have the custom of touching the rock with the hands and as they walk they were touching the rock. One Italian pilgrim was praying instead, to what her female companion reproached: “Lo importante é la roca!” - “What matters is the rock!”- she said…

This is from an email I recently received after emailing Lourdes in France:

The “Oeuvre de la Grotte” at Lourdes is Willing to send water from the Grotto for the benefit of sick people, but not for those enjoying good health, who would use it just as mineral water.

The water is always FREE.
The following items must be paid for : containers, packing, handling and registering, and
above all, delivery (by train, by air, or whatever).

To receive the OP Lourdes set from EWTN ($6 USD) is far cheaper than purchasing straight from Lourdes itself. Most likely because EWTN buys in bulk.

For me to purchase straight from Lourdes a 500 mls - it will cost me to purchase containers, packing, handling and registering and delivery by air of a total sum - 28.00 (EURO) . This is equivalent 34.2068 USD.

The fact the EWTN has advised that the water is blessed by a priest is to remove any possible curses that a person (during handling) could place on the package. I doubt anyone would want to give a gravely ill person Lourdes water if it has been cursed.

Please get over this. What you want to do with your money is up to you. What I would do with my money is up to me. I would not buy the water from EWTN.

But this thread is not about me or what I would do. It is about the water that the OP purchased. 🤷

This really shouldn’t be that hard to figure out. It is time to move on.

What I really don’t understand is how this thread has become about me. Or whether or not I think it is a scam, or why people care whether or not I would send $6 plus shipping for an ounce or two of water. 🤷

I am not agitated. I really couldn’t care less. The problem seems to be that others need my validation for their purchase. :rolleyes:

For someone who couldn’t care less you’ve had an awful lot to say, a lot of it very negative, and said it quite emphatically. The lady doth protest way too much.
